Happy New Year to every DBC member! May all of you be healthy and happy all through 2019!

This is difficult (and couldn't just pick one option) but I'll give it a try...

1) Your favorite performance of Shoma in 2018

Competition: Olympics FS, Worlds FS (he gave his all) and both SP and FS at Nationals
Exhibition: StH and Turandot encore at CaOI, TAT at GPF, Grespi at NHK and See you Again at Disney on Ice

2) Your favorite program of Shoma in 2018

Love all of them but Stairway to Heaven is my fave

3) Your favorite on-ice moment in 2018

Competition: His final poses at both performances at Nats, his smile at the end of his Olympic FS

Exhibition: Winter collaboration with Stephane, the smile after the "kakkoii" shout at 4CC gala, the little spin and smile at SOI (I think it was SOI, the one that Plushenko filmed), the "wait that's too fast..." cantilever and the sQuad number at The Ice

4) Your favorite off-ice moment in 2018

The basketball game (especially his interactions with Rook), baseball Shoma and his giggles, every time he's with Itsuki (remember how cute are those checkers pajamas?). On a shallow note, I have to mention he looked so good at the Colantotte event. :cool14:

5) Your favorite costume of Shoma in 2018

He has the most beautiful costumes but purple Winter, purple StH, blue Moonlight Sonata and...(fight me ;)) yellow Turandot

6) The most surprising moment/event in 2018

Serious: He accepts the pressure that's on him.

Fun: He accepted to be the star at The Ice and enjoyed it, he embraced his kakkoiiness and modeled. Bonus: his face when Alina put her arm on his shoulder

7) The happiest moment/event in 2018

Olympic K&C when Fluffy cries and hugs him while he smiles, podium at NHK with the olive crown, podium at Nationals

8) The saddest moment/event in 2018

When he said he had lost to himself after his SP at Skate Canada, his tears in Milan and when he apologizes because he thinks he's failing us (he has to understand he never does that, we're always proud of him)

9) The softest moment/event in 2018

His cute penguin walk to the podium at Nationals, Coach Yamada being so worried for him at Nats, Olympic podium with his orange jacket and tired eyes, his condolences for Denis Ten, his photoshoot with Itsuki, the Sleeping Beauty photo

10) The moment/event in 2018 you are most proud of Shoma

The strength and will he showed at Worlds and that he never gave up even though he was in such pain both physically and emotionally. At Nationals for believing in himself, giving his all and being happy and proud of himself. Everytime he falls and gets up just as fast (the Chicago training videos, for example).

11) The moment/event in 2018 you are most thankful for

Having discovered him at 4CC! Every time we can watch him skate, him being healthy, Itsuki sharing Shomoments on Twitter and writing his book, virtually meeting nice Shoma fans and that he's taking care of his injury to heal it properly. That he's surrounded by people that love him so much.

12) Your wish for Shoma in 2019

For him to be healthy and happy and that he may have satisfying performances he's proud of. May he keep believing in himself and achieve many gold medals. And that his family and loved ones keep loving and caring for him.

1) Your favorite performance of Shoma in 2018
PC Olympic FS - the performance that made me become a fan :)
Skate Canada FS - even with imperfections, this was my favorite Moonlight so far, and it was so beautiful
and the fantastic collab performances with Stéphane and Alina, Nathan, Boyang!

2) Your favorite program of Shoma in 2018
At the beginning of the season I would've went with Stairway, which I still love, but Moonlight Sonata grew on me so much. The evolution of Shoma's Moonlight from when we first saw it, to his performance at Skate Canada and Nationals is quite impressive

3) Your favorite on-ice moment in 2018
The smile during his cantilever at the Olympics, what an amazing moment!!

4) Your favorite off-ice moment in 2018
Shoma and Rook!
Also, seeing how Mihoko supports him is very heartwarming

5) Your favorite costume of Shoma in 2018
Blurandot - he really did look princely in this costume

6) The most surprising moment/event in 2018
Shoma recovering after an opening fall in his Olympics FS, skating the rest of his program fantastically and winning Olympic Silver  I was amazed!
And when he landed his combo jumps in the latter half of his Worlds FS

7) The happiest moment/event in 2018
Nationals! My heart was swelling with happiness and pride in Shoma watching this competition, and seeing his happiness after his performances only made it better.

8) The saddest moment/event in 2018
Milan Worlds - I was so proud of him but so sad for him. I was so moved by his free skate here, and it did make me realize how much I had come to admire and root for Shoma. Despite the pain and disappointment he must have been feeling at that time, Shoma never gave up

9) The softest moment/event in 2018
NHK podium with Shoma wearing a laurel crown :luv17:

10) The moment/event in 2018 you are most proud of Shoma
Nationals - despite being injured, Shoma delivered beautifully and was able to believe in himself. Also Worlds, where he fought for every minute of his programs.

11) The moment/event in 2018 you are most thankful for
The Olympics! I'm really grateful I was able to discover Shoma and become his fan. He really made me fall in love with figure skating :)

12) Your wish for Shoma in 2019
Health, happiness, and for him to deliver many more beautiful performances that he can feel proud of.

Happy New Year!! :party2:

Happy new year folks! I hope new year brings more patients. Let Shomatitis kill this world!
Here's my post that I wrote on Shoma's birthday, and now had a chance to translate into English (just scroll down for English translation). Enjoy Shoma's games!

Thank you so much for this Dr. H, I enjoyed reading it!

I only have one observation...you're not a distinguished doctor at the Shospital. No, no, no. I mean, of course you're distinguished but the truth is you're the director of the ShoSPAtal! 😂

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to All!
Much hugs to all of you and I wish you and Shoma all the best. Thank you for filling the year-end favorites list :luv17: I had fun reading and remembering the moments so much.

It's 2019 in Japan already and Itsuki just post they've paid a visit to shinto shrine/ temple (this is a practice in Japan's new year):

Thank you gacchan for sharing, wow they did Hatsumode already! Great to see Shoma looking good and visiting the shrine so early. He's walking so I'll take it as a good start to 2019.. May all his and Itsuki's wishes come true.

I have to agree Arriba, I also thought I should have put Itsuki's twitter in #11 of the list, he has shared so much precious Shomoments, here's to more in 2019!

Dr. H., this is hilarious and adorable  thank you for your fabulous article and translation!

Rounding up some news/updates of our Moonlight Prince:

- Shoma's hairdresser posted an update, I don't know if this is a new or old photo but Shoma looks adorable in that (oversized?) puffer jacket: https://www.instagram.com/p/BsDGwVlHOUu/

- Handsome starfish Shoma made a cameo during a performance at Kohaku (NHK NYE TV special program), they played the footage of Japanese athletes during Sekai no Owari's performance of "Sazanka": https://twitter.com/mayo_momo1520/status/1079722269880905728

The meaning of the lyrics of Sazanka song itself is very lovely, unofficial translation here: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/サザンカ-sasanqua.html

This part of the song reminds me of Shoma:

Falling down more than anyone else, crying more than everyone else
You rise up after you fall more than anyone else

- Nick Verreos has his 2018 Ice Style post up on his blog featuring the men: https://nickverrreos.blogspot.com/2018/12/ice-style2018-costumes-recap-figure.html

He's highly complimentary of Shoma's costumes, especially on Purple!Stairway (RIP) and Blue Moonlight Shomata. Also I just realized that he's kind of familiar to me, he used to be a Project Runway contestant

- Camden Pulkinen (junior skater from US and Koshiro Shimada's training mate) posted a New Year tweet and Shoma's there! He and Koshiro can pass as brothers

Kagiyama Yuma (Japanese junior figure skater) has answered questions via his IG stories, he said Shoma is his favourite competitive figure skater. He also said he looks up to Shoma, Shoma's expressiveness and steps etc are what he looks up to. He likes Shoma's Moonlight Sonata program.

Yuma himself is so promising and so intense!! Right away on the JGP circuit you could see some similarities. he kneebend is to die for but then again his dad was also a great skater and had the same!
now we also know he has great tastes:love:

A great way to start the New Year -- a fun photo of Her Royal Fluffiness and Mr. Crinkled-Up Nose. https://www.instagram.com/p/BrskwTHh2pP/

I enjoyed Yuma's skating during the Jr Grand Prix and other events. Also like that he posts photos of his gifts. Careful Yuma. Looks like he's already told people he likes Snoopy. https://www.instagram.com/p/BpWovfEBEYV/ He may end up with quite a collection. Now if we can just have him convince Sho to post some photos of his gifts.

Happy New Year everybody!

Aaawww this is so sweet :') Yuma's commitment and intense energy in performing his programs do remind me of Shoma, but I feel Yuma has his own distinctive style of skating even in his young age, that makes him a promising skater to watch. I like what I saw in JGP and Nationals.

Yuma liking Shoma's Moonlight Sonata somewhat reminds me of Shoma liking Dai's POTO  Knowing young skaters are looking up to Shoma makes my heart feel warm, it's been a long way!

Congrats to Shoma for winning the Chunichi Athletic Award, well deserved honor!

What a wonderful surprise I received in the mail today. A Shomajesty fan I met at the GPF sent me some items she made. Every year she makes a Sho calendar from various fan arts. She also sent a homemade Christmas ornament that has a photo and some stickers she made. I put them on red paper so you can see them better. Maybe we really do need to take over Sho's merchandise marketing...Honestly, Shoma has some of the best fans! What a great way to start the new year!

OOOh those are all so beautiful! Such lovely illustrations. I especially like the May calendar, the one with Shoma's Winter outfit drawing. So delicate and pretty!
