Yeah, the more I think about the costumes for this season's programs, the more I appreciate them? I don't know but for me the costumes seem to highlight Shoma's body and posture in a different way than the previous ones. Beauty is subjective to the eye of the beholder but I like the variety.

At the beginning of the season, I couldn't wait to see the new Satomi Ito costumes. They're so elaborate and so beautiful, and I wondered what she would come up with for the new programs. I was so surprised when we finally realized that this season's costumes would be SO simple. The simplicity really works though (especially with Moonlight Shomata). They're a nice change from last season's, and they show off Sho's lines so well. I still go back to that red costume from Shombardia though, and that's the one I prefer for STH. Oh well, can't have everything.

Yeah I was also looking forward to see how Satomi follows up the costumes that she made for Turandot (Blurandot is quite a masterpiece from her) and Winter! I think Shoma experimenting with designers for his costumes is a surprising moment for this season (should've put this on my list of moments). Shoma still uses Satomi's costume for Time After Time- the only one he hadn't changed from the start

Red STH is made by Chacott! It has a lot of feathers and embellishments but I thought it made Shoma look taller and longer. I think Chacott also made Green Turandot and Purple Lavender as well... and I strongly suspect it also made White Moonlight Shomata (before Mama Uno did some alterations).. the White MS and Red STH look like costume siblings.

It seems that the Uno bros have moved out again. I wonder how long it’s going to last this time. And Itsuki’s old room became a storage unit for Sho’s gifts from fans  https://www.instagram.com/p/BsflM0dhr6I/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=9wlomk0tgx6v

There's a lot of reasons why people move out of their parents house but this has to be one of the most hilarious reasons. I can just imagine the conversation. Mom, I have to move out. The plushy broccolis and CK briefs have taken over! No wonder there have been so many eating out pictures lately.

Do you REALLY think he kept the plushy veggies? [emoji12]

Good point! He's a pretty considerate person towards his fans. Then on the other hand there's the time when he went to catch a plushy, noticed that is was a vegetable and just turned around and left!:rofl::rofl: I can't remember the competition anymore but it still makes me laugh so hard

This really is pretty funny. Seems to me it was after the SP at 4CC 2017 where he was walking to the K & C and acted like he was allergic to that veggie plushie someone threw. I tried to find it, but so many You Tubes have been deleted, maybe it's gone...My question is if he and Itsuki go out every night for niku and orange cassis, or does mom tell them at what time she will put the homemade niku on the table and then they show up for dinner! I picture this apartment bursting with t-shirts, socks, fan art, plushies, CKs, cards and letters, etc.

NOTE: One of the few videos I could find was the one where Enrique is giving his commentary (I love it so much!).

Better late than never. Here's the translation for Finnish commentary about Shoma's NHK short program. Still not a professional translator! :)

The commentator is a coach and a commentator.

Two skaters left and next we will see the home crowd rejoice when Japan’s Shoma Uno glides to the starting position. In all championship games…. at Olympics and at Worlds as at 4CC he has gotten silver. One is missing and that is his goal for this season.

Also silver at last year’s GP final, the silver man. 4F vigorously here on Hiroshima ice. Effortless technique with turns, effortless basic skills, fast speed. Oh no! 4T ends up on the ice. And from that fine spread eagle 3A which continues also with spread eagle after the landing. Difficult combination. I especially like this spin (the last spin). They have realised the possibility to come down through the other foot while moving into the spin which really is a technical thing that balances the spin. The choreography, where everything is polished to perfection, works. The executor Shoma Uno. Brother silver. The gold is very much hoped for sometime this season. Hopefully we’ll get it. We’ll of course remember one gold from Junior Worlds but that was a while ago. 3 to 4 years…. 3 years. A wonderful program with all the details where the performance gets a strong role and that is not bad thing at all because with small gestures he is able to fill the room with atmosphere. He is definitely someone who throws oneself into the program and that also helps the viewer.

(Slow-mo talk)
4F looks like he doesn’t breeze through it. He has to invest into it a little bit so props to him for that. And then we come to the combination… 4T that ends up on the ice. You can see how in place the spin… Within 5 cm all the rotations. Shoma Uno has really low landing positions. He downright squats. He can often save jumps that timing wise start little hastily or late with the ability to have those soft, low landings. Today it didn’t save him but there’s a lot here that remains. Absolutely, without a doubt. Dmitri Aliev who is in the first place has 81.16 points… of course we’ll remember that Shoma Uno has skated more. Is it enough today? With this performance to victory? I think so but both had mistakes so the one who has more has to humble oneself. But Uno is appreciated. Look at these PCS. 44.58 are fantastic, fantastic points. So he has points to his own level. I was thinking over these mistakes for no reason. Shoma Uno goes clearly to first place in this time of competition when one skater is left. Over 92 are Uno’s points.

wait wait wait.. do fans actually REALLY send him CK briefs???

(if any of you did, I won't judge. Promise! :rofl2:)

Thanks @Bel for your effort and time doing the translation. It's wonderful to know what people around the world say of him.

Thanks for the translation Bel! :hap10:

I hope Shoma is having a productive time in training! When he brought a blog update after 2 weeks away, it was like he read my mind (as in I wonder how Shoma is doing now?)!

Seconded. Thank you so much, Bel.

On the subject of translation, does anyone know if there's any translation of French Eurosport's commentators? I just remembered that I once found their broadcast of NHK Grespi on Youtube and one of the female commentators (Nathalie Pechalat?) was cooing "J'adore! J'adore!!" in the most adorable way at Shoma? It was really /that/ cute. So I wonder if there's anyone who does French translation?

There it is! I thought it was after he skated to LiL. It was after Winter at 4CC. Someone is allergic to broccoli! https://youtu.be/bKTjliTR18A?t=266

hahaha probably TOO many veges for him to handle just then... at first he was 'ok I'm gonna catch them' and then 'Oh no it's a shower of veges!' :eeking:

ahh, last year's 4CC...I still love that switch from his 'ON' face to 'SOFT' and 'RELIEF' after the ending pose. and I never noticed this before - but why was Fluffy running from the other end of the rink, as Shoma was coming in off the ice? Was she waiting at the wrong side

There was definitely some weird stuff going on there. I think this is the first time I've been able to see his heart actually pounding as he gets into his opening pose. I'm not too sure of why he was SO nervous. You can see it here. https://youtu.be/bKTjliTR18A?t=27 And at the end he heaves this huge sigh of relief. Sheesh! I'm sure they always get a little nervous, but I guess I didn't understand the stress of that...Sometimes the skaters go on and off the ice at different locations in the rink. I wonder if Fluffy waited at the point where he went on the ice. I couldn't tell from the video.

Sho will skate at Stars on Ice Kanazawa in April :)

Is this just the beginning? Will he do 644743142 ice shows in the off season as usual? Stay tuned.
If so I’m not complaining, last off season was so much fun

I'm happy to see him there! It looks like a great cast (as always)

I think he might be a little more selective over how many ice shows he does this season - so he gets enough time to rest and sleep too :)
