5. Have you ever seen Shoma perform live? If so, where?

No, but I am keeping fingers crossed that he gets this year’s Canadian GP assignment. :) I was kicking myself for not impulsively going to the WTT this year. It turned out to be a great competition, with an incredible representation of athletes, and Uno was unstoppable there :)

Quite a few Raf skaters get programs from Shae-Lynn: Nathan, Marin, Mariah, Michal, previously Ashley. She even came to visit their rink in December.

It does sound like the coach is more likely to be located in North America.

I know they have worked with Shoma before so we've seen how Shoma takes to choreography by Shae-Lynn and David Wilson, but I like this combination so far, since their styles have a nice contrast. Shae challenged Shoma physically in Grespi while David Wilson pulls his interpretation in a different direction with This Town and TAT, but still highlights Shoma's beautiful flow.

I'm probably in the minority but I'm quite sad because this means no Mihoko choreo for competitive programs next season... but her guidance is so ingrained in Shoma that it's been showing when he skates to other people's choreo, and it's what makes me somewhat confident he'll threw himself 400% no matter which music is given.

Mid-August can be quite late for choreography, but that means he will have time to completely focus on his training camp (juuumpsss) and his move. Also.. is it possible that he will get no early challengers? Will we see him at Shombardia and Japan Open this season, or the later challengers?

And the coaching speculations continue! I think Team North America just gained a lot of points from this announcement, despite Team Russia being kind of the favorite of some of the figure skating journalists.

The plot thickens! This doesn't necessarily mean North American coach, but I'll be surprised if it's otherwise...I'm confused. Does this mean as late as the Colan Totte event he was talking about how we would recognize the names of the programs because he was recycling? Then after that event, he made the decision to change coaches? Something seems strange, but that's what it sounds like in this tweet!

Shoma moving to Russia - guess it makes for an even more interesting story! And contrary to what Jack Gallagher wrote - I still don’t think Raf being Nathan’s coach, automatically eliminates the possibility of Shoma moving to him.

It will be a bit of a long wait to see how this unfolds for Shoma, but looking forward to his new programs:)

Shoma has announced his choreographers :
SP= Shae LB, LP= David Wilson

So, are we looking a Canada coach? Some are saying Lee Barkell since Lee has left TCC

So his post said he originally planned to skate to programs of last year, but now due to change of training environment, he is going to use two new programs choreo by Shae LB and David Wilson? So these two new choreo is related to the new training base?

Also that choreography will be done mid Aug, he will debut them end of Aug.

As to relation to new training base, thats why everyone is speculating North America. These are the choreographers used by skaters based in US, Canada.

Though on 2nd thought, it could be Japanese coach like Mie Hamada. They have used both SLB and David Wilson for their skaters.

David Wilson yes, but Hamada Team only used Shae-Lynn just this season I think for Rika Kihira? (Marin got her choreography from Shae after she left Hamada). Same as the Kobe Team who also just used Shae-Lynn for Kaori this season.

Maybe the choice have more to do with Shoma's experience with them for EX programs before. Although it may rule out some coaching teams who are strict in only using in-house choreography or must be based on their direction.

Regarding choreographers, I wouldn't read too much into Sho using David and Shae Lynne. Rika Hongo used Shae Lynne, Mai Mihara used David last year, even going back to Takahiko Kozuka, he used both Shae Lynne and David. Rika Kihira - David last year, Shae Lynne this year....Actually I'm surprised at all the different choreographers - Benoit, Massimo Scali, Charlie White, Tom Dickson, Lori Nichol, Jeffrey Buttle, Marina Zueva. Wow! Lots of variety amongst the Japanese!

These Korean fans are really super fans! I love some of the stuff (including these clay figures) they have created! So talented!

Would it be too crazy to think it's Brian Orser? I know he has Yuzuru, but he also had Yuzuru and Javier at the same time and other coaches also have or had top skaters from the same countries as their students (top 3 US ice dance couples train in Montreal, Eteri had Evgenia and Alina and now Alina, Elizabet T. and the magic juniors).
