Another day, another practice session at Chukyo for Shoma.
Itsuki had his hands full with the three puppies going on a tour in the university grounds!

There has been a lot of new fanart of Sholero on Twitter, but this one is probably one of my favorites. Just so beautiful :love2:

I know the other versions of this video has been posted in this thread, but I gotta add just one more: Shoma's Boléro from the final day of Stars on Ice uploaded by uni on Youtube. This was broadcasted in the terrestrial (unpaid) channel so hopefully it won't get taken down.

The quality of the video is just amazing and it makes for a world of difference when it comes to capturing Shoma's speed and the details of this program.

I mean... what else to say? It's only one week after the last season ended and my adrenaline is already pumped with this program :love2: Love the choice of this arrangement of Boléro music, love the ambitious content Stéphane is asking from Shoma, and love love love that Shoma hit the ground running and just unleashed this right out of the gate. It has been a chaotic and blessed week, and I'm so happy

Also just wanna say that at first I think this program is going to be really challenging but just in 4 days I think Shoma is relishing this challenge a lot. He just looks so spirited and refreshed with a new program. I think Stéphane has the most different choreographic language compared to choreographers Shoma has worked with before (especially compared to Mihoko and David), and to me compared to Shoma's debut of Moonlight Sonata and DOMO, Boléro felt the least "natural" but that makes it a very fascinating program in its own way. I kept thinking "wait I didn't know Shoma can do this, I didn't know Shoma can do that" and I definitely yelled when I first saw him go for that ending pose for the first time. It has been so fun this week to follow the debut of this program.

It's definitely a brave move to go for this in an Olympic season. But honestly... Shoma was made for skating to dramatic warhorses and this is not just dramatic but also gloriously epic. I hope he can train and prepare himself the best he can for this season!

On Bolero, the first 2.5 mins are very haunting and dramatic. Then it gets a bit monotonous for a minute or less. But the steps and ending are great. Choosing a remix by a Japanese artist is brilliant.

Emma is such a dear 🥺 she nearly escaped the car because she wanted to follow Shoma to Yokohama 😭

I wonder if we'll see only Sholero at Prince Ice World, or Shoboe will make its appearance. 5 Days, 10 Shows! Good luck and take care Shoma 🥰

Yes, I also like the touch of Shoma's Bolero being a remix by a Japanese artist. Both of his Olympic programs four years ago were made by Mihoko, a Japanese choreographer, and since Bolero is made by Stephane, it's a lovely connection to have.

Bolero's steps and ending do a lot to make something happen in the end of the program in my opinion. Especially that ending. Like you said, because it's Bolero (even if it's remixed) the repetitive pattern is still there, so the elements need to balance it out.

Prince Ice World had an open rehearsal today and Shoma did Bolero

He confirmed that he will do both competition programs for PIW the next 5 days. Oboe Concerto hasn't been decided as a competition program yet, but Shoma said he will skate it as well.

Some pretty amazing photos from today:

So, we'll see a new SP this week and it's not Oboe? Excellent!

So much content! We're getting spoiled. Our friend K. is going to PIW every day, so it will be fun to get some first-hand details from her. I realized I forgot to write here what happened with her at SOI:

Second or third day -- Another fun show for K. at SOI. The best was yet to come though. She goes back to her hotel and bumps into Sho, Manager san, and Demi san! She had no clue they were at her hotel and had probably been there the whole time she's there! She said hi to Shoma and she said he was so adorable -- he smiled, bowed, and said hello. Sigh. Some people are so darn lucky!!!!! :console:

So sorry that this year's PIW won't allow the usual close-up meet and greet time afterwards, but hopefully we will still get some great photos from the fans who are attending. Can't believe all the great photos that are already coming. I think this one is my favorite, known as "The Scary Split Jump". The height - the flexibility. Sheesh!

No, what Shoma meant was that he hasn't decided on his SP yet, but he'll skate Oboe Concerto this week (with the mood as if it's a competition).

By saying he'll do both comp programs does he mean DOMO and Bolero? I was mistaken then thinking he meant both new comp programs.

Haha. I thought that split photo was photoshopped. His move is getting better there. The landing might still need work but he'll get there.

An alternate view. Look at the shadow on the ice.....

Hshhssh sorry for making this sound so confusing :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

So Shoma said he'll be doing PIW with the intention to skate the programs like in competition, so he wants to do his competition programs for next season (as opposed to his EX programs or programs from the previous season, like Grespi). So Bolero for sure is one he'll be skating this week. But he also added, he hasn't decided yet on Oboe being his SP, but he'll probably skate it anyway. So the programs he'll be skating at PIW are assumed to be Bolero (for sure) and Oboe (probably) with the intention of skating them as if "in competition".

But Shoma himself hasn't confirmed that Oboe really is going to be his SP, because like he said in the previous Nowvoice, he will see if he's able to return to Switzerland to make a new SP, but if he can't (because of the uncertainty of the situation), Oboe will be his SP.

Thanks. Got it. I guess with 5 days of shows, 2 shows a day, he'll be able to see enough of how Oboe would work. Bolero will be nice to see especially if he does a quad or two in place of all the triple place holders.

Today Shoma skated Bolero 2 times at Prince Ice World, both for the afternoon and evening performance.

Today's layout:

Afternoon: 3A 3A 3A 3S 3Aso 3S 3S
Evening: 4T<<fall 3A hangs on 4T hangs on 3S 3A 3S 3Afall

Usually, Prince Ice World has a designated time where fans can hand over gifts to skaters and take close-up photos of them. Unfortunately as part of the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, that designated time (fureai) is not allowed this week. We still get some photos though:

Fun fact: Shoma used this exact same red shirt to debut Loco back in 2016  5 years later and it still fits perfectly.

And of course, a fresh Nowvoice update in Itsuki's tweet  Looking forward to the translation!

No full translation of Shoma's Nowvoice clip, but Japanese fans are saying that Shoma, Yuma and Kazuki are challenging each other to land a quad at the end of each Prince Ice World show. On the final show, the loser will get a punishment :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Shoma stepped out of both 4Ts during today's 2 PIW shows, so best of luck to Shoma for the rest of this week!
(Also please don't get injured hshshs)

Summary of the Nowvoice clip courtesy of shoma_uno_ on Twitter (click on the Tweet for the full thread):

We will get at least 4 more Nowvoice clips because Shoma will post one every day for the rest of Prince Ice World. This is to make up for the lost "contact time", because usually fans can give gifts and ask questions to Shoma there. Thank you for making the effort to communicate Shoma ❤️
