Really strong fight from Shoma. Definitely in bulldozer mode. Overall it looked a little more cautious than usual, but hey! Can't imagine the tension of jumping and spinning, etc. and wondering if your ankle is going to hold up (not only in his case, but for other skaters too). Thank you for fighting. He looked relieved when it was over. I'm sure we were too! Gorgeous 3A!!! BTW both the links posted here for his SP work for me.

Now kill it in the free! :points::hb::ghug::cheer:

Summary

If I was in the good condition, today's performance would have many regrettable things. I had so many not to be satisfied, but I could achieve what I was able to do currently.

First jump was decided by Stephane.

He said you could do either salchow or flip. I was lost in my mind at that time, and if I could I would prefer flip, I reached the conclusion.

About his injury,

'There was no pain at all. Towards 26th free, there is one day interval, so I want to show better condition to you'

I watched it live and I'm relieved to say the least. The skating and standings are as they should be at the top. I'm happy for so many admirable skates by what is such a deep field.

The most BEAUTIFUL 3A I've seen. He looked very polished on the landings which always gives me anxiety especially with the landing foot in stress. Look out. Bolero is going to light a fire.

Glad to see Shoma is in a good place and with that..........Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Thank you for this translation.

Arriba the skaters are allowed to take medication for pain. Not sure what type as it has to be
an approved medication by the ISU. I am just glad that Demi-san is with him. Throw back to 2019
Nationals when his ankle was also injured and he had to walk onto the podium to accept
his gold medal.

Glad to hear they can take something that takes the edge off the pain. Oh, will we ever forget that time he hobbled out to the podium. Was that maybe 2018? I think it was the year Uncle Dai took the silver and he skated Stairway to Heaven and Moonlight Shomata. Very proud of him for what he put out there today. He stood tall under a lot of pressure! :cheer2:

LOL -- I found it. Reminds me of Vilya's penguin video.

Now I need to watch today's SP again!

According to this translation, it appears that the injury may really be affecting him more mentally than physically. If that is the case, then I hope he is able to rest and clear his mind before the free skate! 🧘‍♂️

I hear you demarinis! They all start to run together after a while. How many Nats have we watched at this point.? And it never fails, someone is always hurt!

VERY interesting on the mental aspect versus the physical. I feel for him (and other skaters too!) though, because I've seen him at competitions live where his ankle is bothering him, and sometimes the ankle didn't hold his weight. So that's kinda scary to know you're gonna jump and there's a really good chance you're going to fall -- and yet you can't do anything about it! The difference that I thought I saw today was that normally he goes charging into a lot of his jumps. He seemed a little more cautious and controlled today, and maybe that's not necessarily a bad thing...So proud of him for his mental toughness.

Fuji TV really does good job!

Backstage of KC!

You are right, Arriba, Stephane said several times, you were very careful!
