Skate Canada sounds good to me! Less than an hour flight away. It'll be a little hectic due to going to Skate America the week before, but hey -- for Shoma, I'll do it! I thought Canada or France were strong possibilities (besides NHK), so here we go! The thought of seeing ShoGravity and Mea Shomenta live seems like a dream! Canada has been a lucky place for the Prince. He took gold at both the 2017 and 2018 Skate Canada.

I'm honestly not sure whether to see Shoma in Canada or not... My workplace is gig-based and apparently they get busy in the fall, but are not as busy in the winter. I'm in California, so a trip to Toronto is kind of far... I could either see him in the fall for sure but miss out on more work, or get tickets to GPF or 4CC when there's less work and hope that Shoma comes there...Complicating matters is the fact that the person I bought Worlds tickets from is offering me extremely good all-event tickets to Skate Canada, right by the kiss-and-cry. Boy do I have a tough decision ahead of me.:dbana:

It's a great lineup, especially with Shoma there. To me, he's the premiere skater in the GP so it will be wonderful to see him in the year he reigns as World Champion.

Purple Shoboe + Silver lacy top + Pale lavender top w/Nathan? All excellent fashion choices in my book. 🥰

I also really am intrigued that both Nathan and Shoma showcased the softest sides of themselves in their collaboration. Their arm movements in particular give me that soft feeling... Maybe I'm just more used to seeing their intense sides in practices and competitions, so I expected more of a fire/ice dynamic here. (Shoma being the fire and Nathan being the ice, of course.) Didn't quite expect them to meld together so well!

Also, Shoma forgetting his cell phone at the end of the video is just so Shoma...😆

^^^I got so excited about the Gabriel's Shoboe (and watching it 10 times!) that I forgot to post Mea Shomenta!!!!! I love that they chose something lyrically lovely for their duet, rather than their usual wild, fire-y stuff. Honestly, we are so blessed to see all this ! I agree yuumagical - hard to believe Shomenta is already looking this good in July! Just about 3 months until Skate Canada. And the burning question, will he do a Challenger? Hard to imagine he will have time to fit it in, especially with his participation in Japan Open...Love Kenji's choreo on Shoma. He really "gets" him!!!!!

Save me, please!!!! :dbana: :dbana: :dbana: :dbana:

Love the ending pose!

I loved both exhibitions, Shomenta is already stunning. Seing Shoma skating the same steps with Nathan made me realize even more the differences between their two styles.
As always, step sequence is my favourite part of the program, and I loved both the beginnin and ending pose of Shomenta.
But I'm not entirely fond of Shomenta costume: with this type of music I'd been expecting some ethereal costume, maybe a pale blu shirt, I don't know... but this one seemed too dark to me... I want to see it again in competition, with plan light, maybe I will change my mind.

S-E-N-D H-E-L-P!!!! Too beautiful. Need the shambulance! 🚑

Geez, Louise. Can't these beauties be metered out one at a time to preserve what is left of my mind?

Purple Oboe, Blue sparkly long sleeve and ultra blue bejeweled masterpiece.

Love to see Shoma is being bold right out of the gate. Gauntlet thrown. And then there's the FS snippets. HELP. Deadzoned.

According to the choreographer (there was a small documentary piece that was released during the live stream), the duet is about how they're taking different paths in the future so it starts with them watching each other, they're not doing the same movement/choreography because they're both skaters with different styles. But they become more synchronized throughout their journey. It ends with them looking at each other, then turning away and looking up - hopeful for the future they have but they're taking different paths now because Nathan is going back to college and Shoma will continue skating.

The new FS.... Oh my god, I love it so so much. It highlights Shoma's strengths SO WELL, just the quality of his skating, the edgework, the way he fully commits to the music, intricacy of his movement... Just exquisite. I'm so excited to see this program grow!
Also the COSTUME. So beautiful and detailed!! I love it!!

The beautiful photos just keep coming! I think I know who will be on the best dressed list again! The detail, intricacies, beading, etc. Of this Shomenta top are amazingly gorgeous. The pants are um...memorable.

I agree on the pants 🤣:party2:
The top is... too much... not my cup of tea.. and the colour, as I said before, is too dark. But maybe this is only one of the possibilities 🤞

The Mofumofus have been glad to have Sho at home during the Nagoya shows. They received lots of toys and sweaters. Next stop is Niigata...How many sweaters do the puppies have?! I think the Unos need to come out with a line of puppy sweaters! 🐩🐕‍🦺🦮🐕🐶

Okay, I have re-watched the Air / Mea Tormenta, Properate! FS video a bunch of times more and have... collected myself to share some thoughts about this program. Yesterday was really an overwhelming experience, I haven't fully recovered. I was able to purchase the paid stream ticket and watch it in real time, and honestly I was not expecting anything much from Shoma, because the reports of the first THE ICE show (the one before the streamed one, they were both on the same day) said he was struggling with his jumps (the 4Ts especially) so I was ready to just see how the choreo sequence and step sequence goes, and to listen to the music cut. So, nothing really prepared me to his performance here.

It's... it's like I dreamed something, and the dream come true. The divine, heavenly Air in the beginning, how they let the Air part play until it ends conclusively before starting Mea Tormenta, Properate! And the intensity, sharpness and pain of Mea Tormenta in the second part, I love the movement Shoma did to mark the start of the music, his expression change really sold it for me. I know it still can seem abrupt and separated, but I think experience and mileage will deepen his connection with this program and hopefully tighten the connective tissue between both, but the music cut itself for me is not a disaster. It's what I dreamed about when I first heard of the music. And the costume... I love the second costume (the one he wore on the video)- I thought a high neck will suit this program and I wanted it to be delicate but also encrusted with stones. And I got it all. The sheer sleeves!!! It reminds me of his sky blue Ladies in Lavender costume, but more noble, more otherworldly.

I think it was at the second 4T in the program, that I find myself thinking, "oh, Shoma is at this level." The sheer quality of his movements baffled me, like I know he's an amazing performer but HIS ARMS. HIS HANDS. HIS FINGERS!!!! There's this moment in the step sequence when the camera switched to a wide shot and Shoma did a beautiful lunge as Orlinski's vocal holds a high note. It was so beautiful. Also every single change of weight was done with so much purpose and deliberation. The way he holds his body throughout this program is so stunning. This program, when skated clean, showcases so much of what makes him so special. The physical awareness and the movement quality is... wow. And it's still a work in progress too.

His arms is just- wow. Who can move them like that right now? No one. No one skates like this. No one moves like this. I really hope Shoma and Stephane figure out the best layout for this program because I was blown away. It's like Oboe, but with feelings.

Also... I don't know why, but some time after I watched (and re-watched lol) Air/Mea Tormenta, I was reminded of the first program reveal of Moonlight Sonata. It was in a similar time too, in 2018 at THE ICE, in the summer. And I love Moonlight too, and I just... seeing Shoma skate like that. It takes me back to all of his programs I have watched since I first saw him in 2018. The ones he struggled with. The ones he clicked with. The ones he peaked at. The ones that he never fully realized. And I realized that without those programs... without the peaks and the struggles, without the fulfilled skates and the missed opportunities, he wouldn't be able to reach this level. I don't know why I feel so sentimental. I just feel so lucky to be able to watch him. That was a ticket so well spent, Shoma's skate alone is worth more than what I paid.

As always, I really appreciate and wish I had your ability to pick apart and analyze music. Usually I just swoon and faint :dbana: :laugh2: when it comes to Sho's programs. I agree though about his arms. People are so focused on their jumps right now, that there is a lack of attention to upper body details. In particular, lack of proper upper body tension seems prevalent right now. Kenji 's choreo has woven everything together in a stunning way and really "gets" how to make the best use of Shoma's upper body ability of total body movement.

I don't find the transition between the two musics jarring. I love how the change of tempo shows Sho's versatility and ability to "shift gears" quickly. It reminds me of Shoboe in that regard where the music changes quickly.

I have purchased the livestream for next Friday (Saturday 12 pm show in JPN) and was pleasantly surprised that it cost around $25 for the 2-1/2 hour show. I'm really looking forward to it! Hope my stream works ok!
