Hey everybody! Shoma has been nominated for the Most Valuable Skater award at the ISU Skating Awards! His coach Stéphane has also been nominated under the Best Coach category! If you register on the website below, you can vote for them Shoma! Let's show our support for the Dream Team!:cheer:

(Although I have to admit, I'm incredibly frustrated that Shoma wasn't nominated in the Best Costume category! I'd been waiting so long to vote for the blue-gray Shoboe costume!!! :bang:)

Blasphemy! How can they not list Shoboe blue-gray. Everyone remarked on that costume and how gorgeous it was!...Not sure why it doesn't give me the option to cast a vote for Best Coach. It shows info for each but no place to click for my vote. Hmmmm....Take the time to vote everybody. Too bad we can't do a write-in vote for Shoboe!!! 💚

I'm guessing maybe because that costume was also used at the 2019 World Team Trophy? Disqualified on a technicality...*sigh* They could have at least considered the Sholero costumes...!

I didn't realize we couldn't vote for best coach...*sigh* We can vote for best choreographer, but not that? *sighs yet again*

It is already Dec. 17 in Japan (I'm 15 hours behind where I am, so it's still the 16th), and it seems appropriate to post this beautiful letter from Shoma on his birthday. Hard to believe that 25 years ago today, a tiny little boy was fighting for his life, and look at where he is now. There are so many reasons why I love him -- not only for the skating but for the amazing young man he has become. This letter is just one example of his thoughtfulness.

On Oct. 27th, 2019, Shoma sent a letter to the NICU ward of the JRC Nagoya Daini Hospital:

When I heard from a friend that the children gathered here were born prematurely just like I was, I wanted to send a message of support immediately.

21 years ago, I was born weighing only 900 grams. I grew to be who I am today because of my parents’ positive, hopeful, and unwavering love for me. My growth was very slow, which caused my parents a lot of worry. Though I couldn’t speak until quite late, I still remember a bit of my childhood.

Please don’t think of your child’s smallness and prematurity as a handicap, but rather think of it as a part of their personality and look forward to their growth. I think the children will feel very happy if they can always remember their mother’s smile in their childhood memories.

When I was born, it was said that the fact that I was alive was enough. And now, I am continuing to grow as an athlete. I am cheering for the potential of your children’s futures

Please don't ever change, Shoma!

Oh I remember this. It was so touching to read. Shoma's heart is so big.

Already got all the votes in. Fingers crossed now. He'll still attend no matter the results right? I think all the nominees usually do. I only saw the 2019-2022 season awards when Hanyu won.
It's not like this event has been held in person before, (even Hanyu himself was on a video link) so who knows who will actually show up in Switzerland...
