While the thought of Shoma as a model is...tempting to say the least, I selfishly hope that Shoma can become a professional video gamer after he retires. I sincerely hope that day is far in the future...but even if he decides to become a coach or go into ice dance or do another cool thing with his life, I'll support him 100%.

When that comes it will be exciting to see what he will do after. I think he said in more than one interview that he thinks he’s too short to do ice dancing and that the lifts look too challenging. As a model it would stink having to put up with all the inappropriate comments that fans would make and them going gaga over him but I suppose that happens to athletes too. I’ve seen comments from people who do not like Shoma on social media that were not appropriate. There will always be people like that for anyone I guess. At least Shoma doesn’t care about that. He’ll do great in whatever he does but for now he can keep on skating for many years to come

Yes, Yuma will be back, but it sounds like his injury hasn't completely healed. He is talking about how he is nervous because it has been a while since he has competed...They held the drawing, and Sho is skating 3rd in the 4th group.

Because of all the love that he gets from his environment – he’s a very lovable person –, I think it gives him harmony to move like that, full of love and passion. That helps to be beautiful, and to be elegant, and he has a good image…
His natural movement is very beautiful, his musicality is just incredible…

He was in the shadow of Yuzuru and Nathan for a long time – do you think he knows that things have changed for him?

For me, Shoma Uno is not a big name from today – he’s a big name for many years already.

I know Shoma Uno as one of the greatest figure skaters not from today, but for a long time already – and he’s still here, and he’s still very consistent, and hard-working, and I think he’s part of the group of the greatest skaters of figure skating history. For sure.

And not because he won today, but because of his long career.

At NHK Trophy you discussed with Shoma – and he said he was inspired by your words; what did you say to him?

I was very disappointed with the NHK performance, so I asked him to put more… Shoma Uno’s magic in it. Yes, that was kind of the general message.

He’s magical – and I want to see this magic.

Does he know he is? Or do you need to reassure him every day?

Well. I think there's no doubt that Shoma doesn't reach the number of points Nathan got. At the end of last season he seemed to get close, at least. But 304 points (from the Grand Prix Final) would perhaps have been enough to beat Hanyu, but not Chen. However, it's the course of events that some athletes retire and new athletes enter the stage, so, there's nothing bad about this. It will also be the case if Shoma retires. Now, he takes the chances he gets and that's the only right thing to do.
