Happy Year New to all. Health, happiness, and lots of great skating! Praying the Uno Family and our Sho have a great 2023. It will be tough to top 2022, but if anyone can do it, Shoma can!!!!! :hb: :party2:🥳

I wanted to set up a small Sho shrine to welcome the new year. Only problem, I kept thinking "Oh, I'll put a few fun, cool things." Then I realized how many wonderful memories and fun things I have! Anyway, the shrine started turning into a museum and was hard to photograph. I treasure Sho's autograph!!!!!! (kinda hard to see).

Lot of great memories there, Arriba! Thanks for sharing. Do we really have to wait until March to see Shoma compete again?

Don't I wish! No 4CC, I won't be going to Worlds as I had hoped, so maybe next Oct (I can see him live) with a little luck. :console::bang: That sure seems like a long time from now. Oh well, shouldn't complain. 2 years in a row he had North America.

I hope we'll see him earlier than in late March. I saw him at The Challenge Cup in 2020. So that's a possibility...although he was in a different position then.
Lucky you! He did great there and gave such a wonderful performance of Dancing On My Own. I wish he would do an event like that. He doesn't need world ranking points, and the jet lag and travel are a hassle. On the other hand, you can never simulate competition in practice. Only he can decide what's best I guess. He's 3 years older than when he did the last Challenge Cup, and maybe now that he's old man Sho, maybe he values resting his body more.

Adding: By chance, do you know the dates and location of this season's Challenge Cup?

I am hoping that Shoma and other JPN skaters (including Kazuki) will be sent to either bavarian open or challenge cup in the weeks leading up to worlds.

I hope he will go to Challenger Cup, too. That was a good experience for him in the past. Depends on where he is before World's-if he's training in Switzerland, either one could happen if JSF sends their skaters out this year.

Yes, I do. It's held from the 23rd to the 26th of February (provisionally Sr men's SP on 24th, FS 25th) in the city of Tilburg - regrettably no longer in The Hague as I could actually go by bike - which is app. an hour's drive from Rotterdam Airport, and an hour more from Schiphol Amsterdam. Entree will be Free this time (it never was expensive but for Free is a first). Feel free to ask for more information, but alas no guarantees for now that Shoma will come.

The new Everyday Shoma calendar has a picture of an upset Shoma at IDF. Seeing that on the 2nd of each month is going to take some getting used to...😥
I have to admit those images on the 2nd upset me too. I usually use the image for the 31st or the back side of the page for the 1st instead, though other images will do. (I think the back side of the 1st is actually one of my favorite photos in the calendar! It really gives me that feeling of looking into Shoma's eyes. 🥰)

Ah, this must be brand new. I didn't see anything yesterday. Also was looking on the ISU site and could only find info for Synchro. Thanks! :thank:
I had to look it up today, too. It's a month before World's. Only way I see Shoma going to CC is if he is in Switzerland until that competition and then goes immediately to Japan to train for World's. World's is 3 months after Nationals. Don't know that he needs to go to CC but it would be nice to see him before late March.

The more I think about it, if I'm JSF, do I risk my top male skater getting Covid or flu to go to a competition (close to Worlds) that's pretty inconsequential for his career. Knowing him, he'll keep practicing every day and stay in shape.

Happy New Year from Uno1. So good to start off the new year right! Several times they have mentioned that mother's back is hurt. Hope she heals quickly and that all enjoy a happy and healthy 2023. (Only a quick glimpse of Shoma. Boo hoo.) Looking forward to the Nagoya Festival.

I wonder if the healing hands of Demi-san can work on mother's back?

Ahhh! Photos starting to come from the Nagoya Festival. He did Great Spirit and Mea Tormenta. (Yikes, got a little carried away with multiple posts. Sorry!)

Making sure everyone knows who his significant other is. Matching masks and all. No mufflers this time?

Looking super kakkoii in a suit as he receives the Nagoya City Sports Achievement Award from the Nagoya mayor (for winning the bronze medal at the Bejing Olys).

Looks to me like he should win the Most Kakkoii In A Suit Award. Love this photo!

This part in Great Spirit always made me laugh -- when he would raise his arm and the audience would scream (like they used to be able to do!) because they knew the crazy step sequence was coming. Such great memories, and what an amazing program that turned out to be for him!...The other skaters like to raise their arm in that pose too, it seems!

Adding:
How appropriate -- just noticed that the new Everyday Shoma calendar shows him in the Great Spirit costume for Jan. 4. Coincidence?
