#%@$&?!\℅π. Aaahhhn! It's almost time. I'm nervous but strangely calm at the same time. Shoma has the stress of being favored to win, but I can't help but believe his experience and beautiful, comp!ex programs will put him on the top step of that podium. In the meantime, here are some gorgeous photos from the GPF to help get us in the mood.

When I think about programs, I think the judges realize it's a lot more difficult to skate to something like Mea Shomenta as opposed to something like "Hit the Road Jack" or (cringe) "Feeling Good! :laugh2:

^^^What a great Shoreport from you, @yuumagical. Sounds like you are having a great time. And you're doing this all by yourself, if I'm not mistaken! That's amazing. Enjoy!

Love that photo from Demi-san. We owe him a debt of gratitude!.He helps us keep our sanity! 👍 🙏

Interesting, so, the children were practicing during the public skate? Jumping while recreational skaters are on the ice - isn't that quite unusual?
Regarding the fanciness of the rink: what matters are the trainers of the skating clubs whose members are practicing there, right?

What's the reason for that you speak Japanese? Do you have Japanese roots or just learned the language?
Thank you for your report.
Yes, now that I think about it, it is a little unusual to see jumping during practice sessions (Though I don't think it's the first time I've seen it happen?). I suspect private ice time may be pricey in Japan; jumping during open practice sessions could be a way to both save money and maximize practice time. It also seemed to me as if a music rotation was going on too... maybe these kids were going to compete soon? Yes, I do think the part about the Nagoya Sports Center that makes it atypical would be the staff members and coaches that use it as a base. I simply wanted to give people a realistic expectation of what the experience inside was like. I do have to admit, it was a little surprising to see a regular rink, but it's not like a regular rink is bad at all! It's charming for what it is.

As for my Japanese skills, I'm not Japanese, but I studied it in college because I liked anime music at the time. I didn't study it much afterwards, but the experience of seeing Shoma and talking to Japanese fans at the 2018 Grand Prix Final made me want to study it again.

Yes, the time has finally arrived. It's hard to imagine what will happen b/c we've seen so little of these guys so GO FOR THE GOLD, SHOMA!! I haven't looked at the viewing schedule yet but I'll be setting the alarm and the VPN and hope I can see Shoma win back to back titles.

A.little fun time with the moffs before heading off to Saitama! Excitement is building! Tree shares some food with friends. Looks pretty good!

Shojumps, as reported by Rockerskating:
Uno: 2A, 3S, 3S, 3Lo, 3Lo, 3A, 4T, 3T(2ft), 4T3T, 2S, 4S, 4S, 2F, 4F
Runthru (2Lo, 2S, 2F(turn), 4T, 4T, 3A), 4Lo, 4S, 2F, 2Lo, 4Lo, 4S, 2F, 4Lo, 4S, 2F, 4Lo, 2S, 2F, 4S, 2F

Sounds like a pretty typical first practice. No need to go full out on the first time on the ice. When I saw his first practice was super early, I figured he would skip it!...Beautiful photos are already starting to come! Hello red practice wear! Nice to hear that the men's free skate tickets are already sold out...Here we have 4S, 4F, 4T, 4Lo. Ok, I'm tired just watching!

Ok, can someone please explain to me how he does that?!@#$%^&~`' It's as if he's completely on the side of his skate! Hello edges! Maybe it's good he is skating to Sho Gravity. He can explain to us how he defies gravity! LOL.

Mhh I think some of it might also be the angle from where this pic was taken. And his face looks quite relaxed so it doesn't seem like a very tight landing :scratch2: but nice pic

Sounds like Sho's am practice was just kinda so-so. Flip and Loop weren't at their best. He spoke to the media and Nick McCarvel gave a few of his comments. I think we've gotten used to how he knows how to pace himself. The other practice will be when I'm sleeping, so I'm sure I'll wake up to happy news!!!! 🙏🍓 🐩🍌

"Uno Shoma says there is no panic from today’s practice. Has been trying to translate strong practices into competition but pieces haven’t fallen into place lately. Will look to have a cleaner practice this evening."

I'm on my way to Saitama, so it's a good time for another Shoreport!

The day after I went to the Nagoya Sports Center, I went to Osu Kannon again because they have a flea market there in the mornings on the 18th (and 28th, I think?) of each month. I bought a couple of souvenirs there while it was still open. It was also drizzly, so there were almost no pigeons there.

After that, I went back towards the Nagoya Sports Center, but not to skate; it was to eat breakfast at the Komeda Cafe next to the rink! This cafe is part of a chain that has many branches in Nagoya, and this particular branch has photographs of skaters from the rink on its walls. I happened to find a seat beneath a picture of Shoma wearing the "green leprechaun" costume. This photo is also autographed, though the autograph actually dates from 2022! Being in a place where Shoma has recently been...this was a fangirl's dream come true. I had the Ogura toast for breakfast, a Nagoya specialty. Basically it's sweet red bean paste on buttered toast. It was sweet and tasty and the toast was quite fluffy, but there was only half a slice of it! I suppose I am too used to American-sized portions. 😂

After that, I spent a couple of hours visiting Nagoya Castle. It's a cool place to visit, but not Shoma-related at all, so this report ends here. To be continued...

According to several who were in the crowd, Sho didn't have a good practice, he had a GREAT practice! Sounds like he gave the crowd quite a treat.

Per Chaosice4: "Can I just say how great shoma’s run through was? Because we all expected him to pop jumps and with every clean jump the crowd was more and more in disbelief and we were screaming harder and harder until at the end we lost it sghjsh it’s was worth a final istg"

Who me? A great run through?!?! Ha! The mighty thighs come through again!
