In case Shoma’s team keeps up to date on what goes on here, I wanted to tell them something for him to know. My rink had 2 ice shows the other day and in the official program there was a section where skaters could write a dedication/thank you to someone. I did one for you Shoma. Thank you for being my inspiration on the ice but also inspiring me off the ice. I’ve learned so much from you and I look forward to continue following your journey and cheering you and everyone else that is important to you on.

A press conference was held today for "One Piece". Miyu Honda and Nobu Oda were there too. Love Sho's beautiful smile -- and why does he look so good?!?!...Now if we could just get a few snippets of him skating! :biggrin: :console: :bang:

Japan Times: Uno tired

The Japan Times speculated in yesterday's edition about the lacklustre performance of Shoma Uno (JPN) at the Asian Olympic Winter Games last weekend. According to the newspaper, Uno was simply tired because he had already competed in the Four Continents the week before. That was simply too much for one runner. Since Satoko Miyahara would also have been affected, but had to cancel both competitions due to injury, the newspaper speculates that the Japanese federation wanted to help Korea. The nomination of the two runners was apparently intended to boost ticket sales for the Asian Games. The Japanese federation probably assumed that the two runners were still young and could easily cope with the strain. A mistake. The Japan Times now hopes that Uno's medal chances at the World Championships in four weeks' time will not be diminished by the heavy burden.

Yes, it was the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo (the winter version of Asian Games), which was held almost less than one week after 2017 4CC in Gangneung (the 2018 Olympic Test Event) was held. I think it was a mandatory assignment for Japan National Champions in 2017 (as in, if you win Japan Nationals, you automatically gets assigned to Asian Winter Games) and Shoma and Satoko were the National Champions at that time. I remember the Crown Prince of the Imperial Japan family went to the exhibition gala, but it can be another member of the Japan Royal Family? (Shoma skated This Town btw in that gala).

Anyway Shoma really had a busy schedule that second half of the year, he did ice shows in the New Year, won bronze at 2017 4CC (and since it's the 2018 Olympic test event, it probably helped him to his first Olympic silver medal), kept it together to win Asian Winter Games at home, broke 300 for the first time when he won 2017 Coupe de Printemps, won silver at 2017 Worlds and set himself up as a contender for Olympics, and helped lead Team Japan to their first victory in 4 or 5 years at 2017 World Team Trophy. And of course he did shows after 😅
 
^^^Absolutely. Totally ridiculous. He was exhausted. Seems like he had a fall and a step-out in his FS. People were very critical of his performance. This was the Asian Winter Games in Sapporo in 2017.

NOTE: I removed the word "haters" from my post. There's enough hate on other platforms. No need to bring it here too.

Yes he was pretty wiped. And somehow he managed to become the second man to ever land the quad loop in the midst of it all 😂

He fell on the quad loop at the Asian Games. I remember that like it was yesterday. I felt really bad for him. That's how you get injured, competing when you're not really up to it. Ah well, such has been the skating career of Sho. And yet, despite that, he has triumphed in so many ways. His competitive will is truly amazing.
