I think choosing Spiegel im Spiegel is really brave. There's nowhere to hide with that music.

I remember a few programs with it and i never thought any of the skaters really pulled it off. But I suppose if anyone could, it's Shoma Uno.
I thought the exact same thing. Spiegel im Spiegel reminds me of the first movement of Moonlight Sonata (which Shoma also did) since there is nowhere to hide with that music, and also the skater has to have the right presence to "fill" the ice and the arena in a way that is harmonious with the music, since being too forceful and overwhelming the music won't look great, but not enough presence wouldn't look great either.

I do think Shoma's quite good at being patient on ice, and the quality and definition of his movements are very high. So that's at least a good start for him in my opinion to start approaching a piece like this.

(Also it made me realize that he probably said "uh-oh" to Spiegel im Spiegel, since he also thought he was in trouble when he knew his music was Moonlight Sonata. But also Moonlight Sonata is still personally my favorite program of his...).

Be still my heart! He skates! :dbana: Love the axel sequence preceded by transition. Wonder if we'll see a 3A-2A-2A this season! Mini spiral. Ah, those twizzles. I'm thinking this is EEAAO.

New Nowvoice! Shoma answered some questions, one of the things he talked about is how in competitions the jumps are the most important but he's glad he can have other opportunities like OPOI to highlight different things in skating.

Also, today Shoma is spotted in Tokyo supporting Marin at Tokyo Regionals!

The new program!!! Wow! Will write more later, but for now, here it is! Bonus -- his encore has a bit of the SP.
NOTE: Matthew posted the You Tube version later which is much better (all in one piece!). It also includes his short encore of his SP. (Post #22061)

Finally, after all this time, this super fan had her photo with Sho and her Emma chan banner! And that looks like a real smile on his face. I think he knows how much people like his beloved Emma chan.

Stephane never stops teaching our Prince. I love it.

Wow, I think I may have just had a foretaste of heaven! That program was definitely worth waiting for! Sho's magnetism is the best in the business! He may only be 158 cm. tall, but he skates BIIIIIIIG!!!! :points: That literally took my breath away! His experience and patience really shine through with his languid, unhurried movements. The way he takes his time adds to the stillness yet powerful vibe of it, and I love it! :dbana:

Love that little pause and lean back before the 3A. And thank you for not exiting into some meaningless transition but instead just riding the edge. Mini spiral, back cross rolls into spread eagle. Wait, is that an Ina Bauer?!

A shame about the disruptive fall, but nonetheless a good first outing! There is LOTS to like there! He still has work to do, but this is gonna be a beauty when it fully evolves. Glad he has work to do. That means it's going to get even better! Didn't care too much for the costume. I prefer him in lighter colors. Black is too stark for him. Chances are that's not the "for real" costume anyway.

Wow, the Uno 🎢is back! WELCOME 2023-2024 SEASON! WE READY!!!!!

This program is hard to put into words!! The structure is unusual and unpredictable - starting with the more intensive piece and ending with the softer one. It's very challenging for sure, and you can see it's unpolished and new, but yes I had tears in my eyes and he once again proved that he can control time. That could have been 1 minute or 6 and I wouldn't know.
I adore his patience on ice, like he just lets the music breathe through him, there's no rush. I love the flow, the stops, the way it feels like being taken to some other world once again. I wish we could see more of it before the GPs! 🥲
