Shoma Uno

Also I really loved these answers from Shoma. Thoughtful, but still very him.
Agree 100%. And I know we all probably have a different criteria for what makes a great champion, but for me good sportsmanship is HUGE. These answers reflect his thoughtfulness, respect for his competitors, and sportsmanlike conduct. A true class act until the very end. I love it!

I remember we saw that 97 year old Gramps watched Sho's retirement press conference. I wonder if he watched the Oly medal ceremony. I sure hope so.

Ah, the Mizuno Stairway to Heaven. This looks like quite an exhibition. Apparently you can see several costumes and enjoy Sho's program music while browsing. Love the video of the lavender costume. Fantastic detail!...Maka's photos are amazing, as always! Thank you.

Also from the Mizuno talkshow today, Shoma's 3 most memorable programs are: Don Juan, Loco and Bolero. Very interesting choices! I'm glad they finally had the good sense to ask him which ones are his "most memorable" instead of which ones he likes the most, lol.

He's been eating out (!!!) multiple times with Kobahiro-san, the Prince Ice World leader. Yes this is news because Shoma does NOT eat out with just anyone lol. Yoji is of course, his gaming friend.

Don Juan Demarco is my favorite and memorable program from his Junior days, Shoma made a statement.
Here is Shoma's 2014 Jr. Grand Prix Final FS (no commentary) in Barcelona, where he was sitting in third going into the FS
and crushed the competition with this performance and took the title.

A short summary from the Mizuno talkshow today in Tokyo, about Shoma's relationship with Kobahiro-san and Yoji (Shoma personally asked them to appear in the talk show because he wants to meet the fans as a professional skater with fellow colleagues of professional skaters), and a story about his former coach Stephane doing sudoku in competitions when he got nervous 😁

Also interesting is this last paragraph 👀
After retiring, Uno has focused on shows, but he says that he will be taking a break from them in the future. "I may do a job that is a little different from skating. There are many things that haven't been decided yet, but please look forward to it," he said with a smile, looking ahead to his new path.

A break for the rest of the year? His next skating schedule is in January for Prince Ice World Nagasaki shows so some time away from skating (finally!!!) is well earned IMO.

Fun info from the Mizuno event. A friend of mine was there and really enjoyed it. She says he answered her question, but she didn't say what her question was!

I keep hoping he will be helping out at Mao's new rink. I would love to see him lend his prestige and skill to help her out. Who knows though. There are so many things he can do.

Maybe he will be helping out at the Uno Cafe😊
Something low-key like that would be really cool. I guess because I love him so much I can see him doing a zillion different things. I can SO picture him in a gorgeous suit doing tv commentary for the GPs, interviews with the skaters. Hard to know what he's interested in though. For some, the idea in retirement that every day is a Saturday / Sunday is VERY appealing! Maybe he's already signed up for gaming tournaments but he isn't telling us yet! The possibilities are endless.

It is very memorable! From what I can gather from the tweets of the fans who attended, it seems Shoma remembered the 3 programs (Don Juan, Loco, Bolero) the most because he had performances that made everyone around him happy 🥰

I agree  well, he did say that so far it hasn't really felt like a retirement yet for him because he just did what he usually does in the summer (practice for shows, lol) so after this he said it will likely be different. But I really do hope he takes the break though!!! He's never really missed a big chunk of the figure skating calendar (both competitions AND shows) nor take a year or two years of skating hiatus... well whatever it is, I hope he can enjoy it hehe.

Also, it seems that the backflip part of the talk was something Shoma talked about when he's asked what tricks he would like to do if he's Kobahiro and/or Yoji, who both can do backflips. So... maybe something he'll try, or just something he picked as an answer.

From his IG story, Shoma went outside (!!!) 🤣 it seems he watched Pretty Woman: The Musical, at the New National Theatre in Tokyo this weekend with Marin.

Shoma's episode of KENJI'S ROOM will be available tonight on JSports on Demand. Very curious about what they will talk about. I just realized that not only Shoma has worked with Kenji for competition program choreographies, they are also involved actively at OPOI. Funnily enough, Kenji has never made Shoma an exhibition / gala program.

A very memorable pose from Oboe Concerto SP, one of Kenji's work for Shoma:

Who was around for the old, old version of Kenji's room from 2015? Look at him, he looks like a little boy. I can only find the video on bilibili. I take that back. I found the Part 2 video. It still makes me laugh!!! His golf swing at 15:15. I'm dying! :laugh2:

Interview Part 1

Interview Part 2

The famous Sho head tilt. He's so embarrassed when Kenji tells him he has long eyelashes!
