Surprising news update! It seems like Shoma is going to have his own ice show?!? His Instagram story mentioned more news to come from the Toyotimes YouTube channel at 1 pm (Japan time) on March 19th...(as well as a Twitter link, but I don't do Twitter anymore) I suppose we'll just have to see what he reveals on the 19th!

^^^That is interesting news indeed. And let's see if he's bringing the show to the U.S. (just kidding). He kept hinting that there was something coming but he couldn't talk about it for a while. And will the show be at the new Toyota arena? So we will have to stay in suspense for one more week.

And Shoma will be the local ambassador / reporter for Worlds. Broadcast on the 28th and 30th. The mens short is March 27 at 11 am and the free is the 29th at 6 pm Boston time, so it seems like it will be on a taped delay.

Lol, the show has to be a success before it comes to the US, give him a little time to be successful!
Also, that isn't necessarily a tape delay for Worlds coverage! Given the time difference between Boston and Japan, those times might be live! 11 am in Boston = 12 am the next day in Japan! A tape delay is still possible, though, given how early that is (and the tweet referenced does seem to indicate that on the 30th).

13 hour time difference so it doesn't work for live. I have a better idea. How about if HE comes to Boston?

I hope he does truly perform in the US in the future. But, right now he'll focus on Japan and possibly Switzerland the most since those are his two homes. I strongly bet Stephane will be in the show along with all the others skaters whom Shoma has talked about a lot shaping his skating career: Mao Asada, Yuzuru Hanyu, Nathan Chen, Ilia Malinin... That is if they all can. Shoma's skating life could go into his 60s, 70s, 80s and still perform. I've heard of skaters performing in their 100s. I know. I know. I'm really getting ahead with the age here, but I'm just trying to say he never has to stop skating if that is what he wants. His skating life will always be around.

I hope the stadium sells out in Japan or at least is more than half full! I would love to go, but I still need a passport. I'll catch the next one or another one in the future because I am sure he'll still have that. I wouldn't know how popular he is in Japan or anywhere else, but I can tell he is greatly respected and loved all over the world. now trying to figure out how the heck can I budget for Japan, South Korea and Western Europe in a year 
But!!!! I am very excited and curious about this. Not going to lie I have been trying hard not to watch Shoma's skating too much. Not because I don't like it, but because once I get into it I get sad that there's nothing like his musicality, power, movement and projection quality out there. I like the thrill and suspense of competition and the aesthetic visuals and costumes of ice shows, but it's really because of Shoma's ability to harmonize so organically with the music through his skating that I started following figure skating seriously, so it's been tough even though he is taking a seriously needed break. And yes I take the period between Worlds 2024 and now as a break- Shoma was busy but compared to his schedule and responsibility in the past it was pretty chill
Shoma has been suspiciously hinting towards /something/ that's not his usual ice show schedule so I am very happy that he can finally tease this!!! And like said above, I have been missing the power and finesse he brings in skating lately so if his show is able to encapsulate that...... my wallet is going to cry

The teaser do look clean, modern and minimalist which is an interesting vibe
too little to make assumptions of but I think it fits with Shoma's unfussiness and directness, which I thought is a great contrast to the incredible quality he brings go the ice.

I really hope that some of his skating friends (at least his inner circle: Stephane, Koshiro, Marin, Kazuki, Sota, etc.) will also be performing for his show. I think it would be a wonderful way to show his appreciation to them for helping him out along the way.
I also really hope that it isn't going to be a solo show...
And I've been thinking about the "Brave" on the official website link...I wonder if this will be autobiographical in some way? I mean, we all know the story of him being born prematurely and being in and out of hospitals as a child...
Edit: And another thing I'm hoping for...that it's an artistically distinct sort of show, something that shows off his amazing skating qualities in a unique way, something that doesn't follow the same templates as other ice shows.

I have been wondering about it too. "Brave" feels fitting for Shoma for various reasons, but for me it brings me back to his Worlds 2018 free skate. I will never forget that.

This is something that I'm curious about. Shoma is interesting because he doesn't seem to care that much about his past achievements which is usually what the skaters who have their own shows draw inspiration from, and he also seem to have no issue in separating his skating from his hobbies. He's said before that while he enjoys skating to his favorite songs, the burden to create a program for them is high because he himself is very critical, LOL. And he's just a good gamer, full stop, without needing to bring themes from it to skating.
I do think Shoma enjoys to really commit in preparation and training for a show. He finds OPOI fulfilling because exactly that, which is different from the other shows he did which is a bit more impromptu in its preparation. And I also think a longer preparation time suits him, since he's someone whose take on programs get better and better the longer he performs it.
My wish is his show will be closer to Mao Asada's shows... probably the second one (BEYOND). But with like, the power and finesse that is pretty much Shoma's signature. I think when it comes to Shoma I always think about how he just bring this strong energy and loads of power in his performance and how he can project it all to the audience, and he does it like it's the most normal thing in the world. It always shines through regardless of which shows he is in and who else is skating in that show. It's why I get he tends to be the closer in shows- even when they moved him to the first half he had to close that first half, because it's not easy to skate after him. So if he can encapsulate that in a full show (it doesn't even need to be that long!!!)........... now I get myself worked up because I am so curious and want to know more about it so bad.......

I think he would include them too and maybe the two ladies that were his coaches when he was a child. Why not a solo show? Harder to do? I think it could be autobiographical. Hey maybe this will be Shoma's way of telling his story instead of writing a book. Whatever it is, it'll be amazing.

@rabidline I was watching the performance of a VERY GOOD skater the other day (who shall remain nameless). The skating itself was really wonderful, but I couldn't help but feel that he just didn't have the charisma, the "pizzazz", the star power that Shoma has. After that, I watched Sho's Shoboe and couldn't help but think it will be a long time before there is another skater like him. It made me feel really sad!!! We were so fortunate that he had so many wonderful programs.
@yuumagical I'm with you on the solo show. And I can't really imagine Sho doing a solo show. The cool thing is that receiving some news about something new really woke all the Shoma fans up and has started the conversation! LOL.
@Figskater23 Go to You Tube and watch Sho's Turandot free skate for 2018 Worlds. I was there. He was injured. It was quite a skate. Silver medal.

I think there should be a REAL Meet and Greet. Not the skaters circling the rink and making the V sign. A real, private M & G where people pay for the privilege of going and can take photos, talk to the skaters, etc. Or how about something like the Friends of Figure Skating breakfast (that the U.S. used to have) where fans really get to make a.connection with the skaters. I don't know that I've heard of any other show doing that in Japan. Try something new!
