At the beginning of the season, TAT spoke high about S/K because she believed they had great coach in Zueva ... I'm wondering what she is thinking now with S/K's result and S/B going to Euro. She has been promoting S/B for quite a while. Which team goes to Euro/world will make her more happy?

Watch how quickly she becomes the anti S/K. She has long been behind S/B and would probably lose her stuff if S/K wound up going to worlds for some reason (which I can't entirely rule out if S/K get the tech score at Univeraisde)

A trip from the US to Russia back and forth would lose days for the body to recover with the timezone differences and the toil of travel. He would be about a week behind before he gets things back to normal. And "normal" for him right now isn't good enough.
Elite athletes have to train just about everyday with maybe a day off or so.
Wanting to party in the middle of a season again points to Niki's level of discipline.

Maybe he didn`t want to party, but spend time with his family? I can imaging that he doesn`t see them ver often during the season.

I was using the term 'partying' loosely. Any celebration, drinking, or just not training full-time would affect his condition.

All the other Russian skaters, even the ones going to Euros, got a break for New Years. Kovtun and Bazarova went back to their hometowns, and Tuktamysheva was with Betina Popova in Moscow.

all of which skated quite well lately... I'm just saying Niki needs more work whereas some of the others have done well.

Just watched worlds 2012 and already then the commentators said that there have bern rumours that Nikita was looking for a new partner and I/K were splitting.back then Lena said it was false and then it comes again.. poor Elena..
I don't think poor Elena. Unless she'd rather be in parntership with Nikita than Russian champion or whatever.

Pretty sure I/K would be Russian champs if they had stuck together, or at least had a very good shot at it. Even with errors they almost won Worlds.
At any rate, your obsession with Katsalapov and I/K's "constant failure" (being OGM and OBM winners) has gone from ridiculous to downright pitiful.
thats true but its all ober now ans It all worked out for the best for her so I was wondering how there could be a "poor Elena" now. Maybe then but not anymore.
Lots of people were pretty sure I/k would win or medal at NHK 2013 or 2014 worlds or win 2014 euros or 2013 euros and it never happened. Not to mention rusian nationals over b/s.
I/k were a constant failure but maybe you would say disappointment? Underperforming team?
We should rather be glad that apparently two teams that presumably like working with each other has been formed. Nikita is a talented ice-dancer but apparently not without his vices, who isn't? Getting to see them better it is clear, at least to me that he and Lena were like oil and water. Vicki it would appear tends to take him in stride and laugh at his antics. By his own admission he says Marina knows how to deal with his crazy emotions at times. Lena though a sweet girl can be a very purposeful, very serious, lets get down to business type of girl. If they stayed together they might have killed each other. Ruslan seems to be very secure and his skating skills appear to be up to the challenge. Nikita has never been as consistent with his twizzles and edges as Ruslan appears to be, but go figure everybody is making a way for themselves.
Each of them has their own face, so now thankfully no-one will be talking of an I/K reunion and no other team(s) will have to be split to accommodate either S or K. Everything could not have worked out better IMHO. If they don't go to worlds or EC, S/K that is, not a problem. I find that in comparison to the paso doble the Ravensburger waltz is a bit more challenging due to the multiple twizzles and sharp turns required by the girl. Also to really give it that soft lilting quality it will need exceptionally clean edges and soft knees. So this years results at nationals could be a blessing in disguise for S/K. As for I/Z their work this year, especially their step sequences has already prepared them well for next season. Example of RW, D/L 2006. After the end of the FD in NHK, Viktoria did NOT look like she took his incompetence in jest. That was a Barbara Fusar-Poli-level glare.
Well yes she was upset, Nikita just about completely gave up on the FD. I don't think I've ever seen Ruslan do that. But more to the point where is there to go for either of them at this point? They have to make it work.

I think the FD at Nationals gave them a little bit of confidence back and with the Universiade they have another opportunity to present themselves infront of international judges.
Regarding the Waltz next year, I think that`s a rhythm that suits better S/K, especially Victoria, than the Paso.

I haven't seen any male ice dancer lose that much concentration. Even Charlie White fell 3 times in a short dance long ago, but he and Meryl still managed to perform and attack well. They knew each other's rhythms well and got back into the performance quickly.
I haven't seen any male ice dancer consistently dropping/tripping his partner or "catching an edge" at the rate of Niki.
Even with Robin Szolkowy who has been reported to have some differences with Aliona, he always carefully put Aliona down and lifted her with a lot of caution.
