Aside from the 'stars' and the results, here's a short list of my picks for future
skaters to upset the applecart.

Men: Tomas Verner; Kristoffer Berntsson, Yannick Ponsero, Christopher Mabee.

Ladies: Not really much in the way of standouts, but I would mention Valentina Marchei.

Pairs: Piatkowska/Khromin; Kawaguchi/Smirnov; Volosozhar/Morosov; Magitteri/Hotarik. All need some polishing but there is something there.

Dance: Cappellini/LaNotte. I don't think the old guard will quit yet.

Valentina Marchei and Cappellini/La Notte were a great surprise for me. They were more exciting than Kostner and Faiella/Scali. Marchei was very consistent this year. Certainly she has a lot of flaws, but I hope she can overcome them and become better in the future. She needs the 3flip and 3loop and needs to ameliorate the PC scores. With the exception of interpretation, in which she is really good IMO  .
Cappellini/La Notte are fabolous and I see in them the Italian couple of the future. They have to work hard, that's for sure.

Other skaters who impressed me are Berntsson and Verner (both are innovative and entertaining). Verner has the quad! I see them as "future stars" as well!

I would add Elene Gedevanishvili. She has the potential, but unfortunately this year she had a lot of problems. She needs to learn to win the pressure in the LP.
Elena Glebova and Yukari Nakano have improved from last year.
Alissa Czisny is very interesting and if she learns to land those jumps!!!

Virtue/Moir and the other young American couple who did Polovetsian Dances are the possible medal contenders of the future.

In Pairs, I was surprised by the Ukrainians, the young Canadians and the young Polish couple.

Virtue and Moir are Canadian. But yes, they're great and promising, thanks to Russian choreographers.

Polovetsian Dances? I think, someone else did that.

Davis & White skated to Polovetsian Dances, as well as DomShabs.

For me, it's Verner for the men, Marchei for the ladies, Volosozhar/Morozov for pairs and Virtue/Moir for dance

What about Susanna Poykio? She got 3rd in the Skate Canada SP, 5th overall and 3rd in Bombard LP, 5th overall. 5th at Euros. 8th at Worlds.

I am not sure if she can progress and move up to higher placements, but her Grand Prix results seem very promising.

Susanna is lovely, but at 25 she is not a fresh young skater. She's been skating at Worlds and Europeans since 2002.

My sentiments exactly. She's not up and coming. She up there and been there for some time. I do like her skating but she's not in the 3x3 class. My post was about future potential podium skaters.

Korpi is not only an excellent skater but a beautiful young lady. However, she is inconsistent and by next season, she will have been around.
