So-Youn Park

Sooo....
who would you guys want Soyoun's new coach to be then?

I want Stephane's coach/skating school since she needs to work on her edges and spins!

Lambiel sounds like a good idea since he often performs at Yuna's show. Good relationship.

I really want her to have a new coach who can help her with more than her jumps. I love her but her season doesn't look promising. I don't think she can get another top 10 finish at Worlds.

I know that Frank Caroll really boosted Gracie Gold's PCS but he also made her too princess-like so no...
And she probably won't go to Orser...

What about the choreographer? David Wilson is a great choreographer but why not try going to someone else? I know how close David and Yuna are but I'm not too sure if his style fits So Youn. Who choreographed her Swan SP from last year? I really liked it.

kinda sad about the Orser thing

Maybe Shae-lynn then? I know she doesn't really do the singles coaching but I'm thinking that maybe let Shae-lynn take reins of her artistic development whilst keeping Coach Shin/Jung as her tech coach. Or another option could be bring Soyoun (my wishful thinking: also the other youngsters) to the Mariposa school in Ontario. I think Nobu had some training schedule where he would stay in Barrie for a couple months to train.

Cindy Stuart choreographed her programs last season and her current Les Mis EX. I do wish that Soyoun stayed with Cindy instead but I do think DW has challenged her artistically this season. So, keep DW for now and see how it goes. I would like her to go to Tom Dickson as well. I've been liking his work with Satoko and of course, because of Yuna's El tango.

I think Nobu went to Mariposa because Lee Barkell was there, Lee Barkell now works at the Toronto Cricket Club, where David Wilson and Brian Orser are

ah I see, thanks for the info! I still think the Mariposa school is still a good option since it would still provide Soyoun (and for other potential KOR skaters) a better skating environment plus it's far away from Korean media.

hm.. the new Korean youngsters are making their way to the top. She needs to come out with a bang next season or she will fade into obscurity.

IMO, it would be even better if she can out with a bang at Worlds! I'm hoping for a clean free skate! Please So Youn, show us your full potential! She can definitely score near 125 if clean! And for the short, probably around 62-63 if clean!

So Youn needs to find a coach who is good with relieving nerves. That's the only big problem she's facing right now. Although her spins are far from the best, she still tends to get most levels and her jump difficulty makes up more than enough, considering that she gets ~60 in TES with many errors.

surprisingly nope. no practice fancam, nor photos yet. nor repo, but lots Yuna fans do went and watched her practice including other korean skaters too. But they did not post anything on social media yet.

I think soyoun did alright today.

From my prepared expectations, I agree but I still have lingering feelings on what could've been. :ohwell: I am wondering why Coach Jung has decided to let her use 3F instead of 3Lz. To be blunt, yes both of those jumps aren't her forte but I do see a relatively higher consistency with her 3Lz than the flip.

 I guess Shanghai ice is cursed. :disapp:

let us hope that this curse is properly dispelled before any of the remaining events starts
