The last of the Advanced Novice skaters, Pablo BUENO GARCÍA (MAD), is wearing black shirt and trousers, with silver waistcoat.
He is skating to the weirdest cover of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" that I have ever heard!
Thank goodness the skating was good!
Yep, this is the guy that was sitting with Bibian Esther NAVARRO RICALDI (MAD) 20 minutes ago.
He goes into a MASSIVE lead.

Kseniia ISAIEVA (UKR) is the only skater in this group that is not from Madrid. She is based in Valencia.
She is wearing a black dress that has only one sleeve and shoulder. But she has a glove on her left arm instead.
Don't know the music, and it wouldn't be my own personal taste. But it really worked for Kseniia.
I really enjoyed that.
A good start to the Junior competition.
She seems happy.

Oh, yes! This is what you always want. A set of siblings going back-to-back.
Adriana SEGUÍ JIMENEZ (MAD), followed by Noa SEGUÍ JIMÉNEZ (MAD).
Adriana is wearing a red dress, and skating to "It's A Man's, Man's, Man's World".
To be honest, I wouldn't be fussed on this version of the song. But, my goodness, the skating more than made up for it! She was great!
And her jacket matches the dress!

Again, like I said for her sister before her, I wouldn't be fussed on this version of the song. But, my goodness, the skating more than made up for it! She was great!
I wouldn't want to call this one. It's going to be close. But, if I absolutely had to choose one, I think I would go for Noa.

Didn't know the first song, but the second was a female cover of Chris Isaak's "Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing"
She had a fall but, on the whole, not a bad skate.
She seems very young. My guess is that she's just up from Novices.
She is very disappointed.

This second group is more diverse. We have 2 skaters from Madrid, but we also have a skater from Andorra, a Basque skater, a skater from Navarra, and a Catalan skater.
Actually, we have already had skaters from all those places in Advanced Novices. But, two of them were via a skater that was representing France!

Alexandra KULDISHOV LÓPEZ (MAD) was wearing a very pale turquoise dress that is more like a matching bra and skirt set. And skating to Middle Eastern music.
To be honest, it didn't all tie together for me.
But, the skating was good.
She goes into 6th and last position.
But, she's happy! Laughing and joking away with her coaches.

Andrea PAZOS GUERRA (AND) was wearing a red dress.
She was skating to a cover of Elton John's "I'm Still Standing". And I didn't like it. The guy singing isn't a great singer.
But, she made a good job of it.

Nora SAEZ de MATURANA SALAZAR (EUS) was wearing a dress in two different shades of blue. It actually looked like somebody had thrown a bucket of water at her. 
I would never have guessed it from her dress but, like the first skater of the day, she was skating to "Danse Macabre".
She was good. Although, she did have a mishap near the end when she did the splits.
She goes into 7th position.

The last of the Madrid girls today, Estela RUIZ GARROTE (MAD), was wearing an olè 
dress. But, it was black, and the top half had a pattern that made it look like a plague of moths had got to the dress.
At times, the music reminded me of "Assassin's Tango". But it wasn't. It was definitely a tango, though. The voiceover at the start told us so!
She was good.

And we finish the opening day with Elsa BONET SATSUKI (CAT). She was wearing a black and red dress.
We nearly made it through the day without "Je Suis Malade"!
(Oh, hang on, I missed Group 3 of the Advanced Novices. We might have had another then).
But, at least it was a good skate to finish off the day.

It's a much earlier start to Day 2, but a familiar start. Because the Advanced Novices are returning to do their Free Skates. They will be followed by the SP's for the Junior Men, Senior Ladies and Senior Men, and then the day concludes with the first action from all four Synchro categories.
The Advanced Novices are arranged into a group of 6 girls; followed by a group of 7 girls; followed by a resurfacing; followed by a group of 7 girls; followed by a group containing 5 girls and 2 boys.

First up is África HERNANDO PAÑOS (MAD), who is wearing a grey shiny top (with a lot of cut-outs) and black skirt.
She is skating to "Mad About You" by Hooverphonic. Which samples Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake".
She had a lot of troubles with landing the jumps. But, on the whole I really enjoyed that.
Put it like this: this is a programme that I would like to see done clean.
She's understandably disappointed with how it went.
