Is this currently on tour and was Polina there? I read a piece of unflattering gossip about it and her today; don't really want to post it, because I don't want to spread anything if it's not true.

Stars on Ice has a core group of skaters....Ryan and Jeremy being part of that. The rest of the case is based on who the production people think will draw the most customers. Like Mrs. P said, most likely it will include those skaters who make the Olympic team.

The last time I went to SOI in San Jose, Paulina was part of the cast because she lives there or nearby. In fact she had to miss her Senior Prom because of the show in Anaheim. The cast gave her a party and she wore her prom dress. She also had it on in the Meet & Greet.

I also would have liked to see a Boston show. Providence is less than an hour away, so I'll think about it but it's a Saturday and I work on Saturdays (on the other side of Boston no less). I'll wait for more details.

My guess is that if you make the extra effort to drive the hour, you'll be glad you did, especially if you have a fave already named in the cast. I know nothing about other sports, but I'll bet Mrs P is right about TDG being needed for possible NBA events.

I used to be able to attend in Pontiac (an hour away) or in Grand Rapids, twice that. Then, SOI no longer came to Michigan, so I drove with my kids to Cleveland. The next year, that was gone too. So I'm very pleased they're coming this year to Detroit. I can say that each time I made the effort and shelled out the cash, I was glad I did.

Jason Brown is hardly a random skater You said in an earlier post that you wanted SOI to name Adam, but Jason has the same attributes (US Champion, twice a top ten finisher at Worlds, including a fourth place finish) as well as being a 2014 Olympian. And a large (for skating) and devoted fan base.

You may not like his skating, but he is hardly "random".

Jason Brown is hardly a random skater You said in an earlier post that you wanted SOI to name Adam, but Jason has the same attributes (US Champion, twice a top ten finisher at Worlds, including a fourth place finish) as well as being a 2014 Olympian. And a large (for skating) and devoted fan base.

You may not like his skating, but he is hardly "random".

I was hardly being rude. I didn't state JASON was random, I just said it was a very random choice of cast to announce overall. Just stating that usually the cast is based on how well said skaters are doing up to that point.

Jason squeaked in the the GPF as a sub. Don't blame me for that. Just like Karen hasn't exactly earned her spot on the tour right now either.

Adam should have been named before as he has 2 silver medals on the GP this season already, and no sorry they don't have the same qualities. I'm not one for the same looking choreographed programs that don't make me feel anything but have a ton of campy factor. That might be up your alley but it doesn't mean it's up the rest of the world's.

There are a heck of a lot of people on social media disappointed in the cast and asking for others. H/D, C/B, Adam, and more.

Again, not being rude. Just being straight with this.

Who knows what other deals these skaters are negotiating. Maybe Adam's agent is demanding more cash cause he's done so well during the GP season.

You say that it’s not about Jason, and then proceed to criticize him. I’m one who believes that Jason is a better skater with more sophisticated and nuanced programs than Adam’s, and, as he is the more popular and over the past four years, more successful skater, IMHO he was a better choice for SOI. That said, I hope to see both of them at the show. However, if there were only one, my preference would be Jason. As with many many many other skating fans.

At least, the closest show is in Providence, which is only a crappy Commuter Rail ride away...

Portland, Maine isn't that far away, either. I know that by car it's about an hour away. You'd have to check out the travel times, but the Downeaster also gets you to Portland, Me.

Actually - it does sound more rude than straight. SOI has never relied on social media for choosing their casts. And Adam may be added after Nationals if he does well. Karen is from Fremont - right up the road from San Jose. It's been tradition to have skaters from the geograpical areas in the cast for particular shows - AGAIN (and I keep saying this) they want to draw customers in....not necessarily satisfy skating ubers. I guess if people don't like the cast they can just skip the show!!!

They never draw crowds anyway and it's going to be worse at each venue now because they won't have people travelling to the few dates. Oh well, I guess the ubers will be happy, because if you think that's what I am then you read me wrong. Have a good night.
