State of Russian Ladies in skating: 2014-15 Season

^The US has been out of medals long before Adelina Sotnikova even came out of juniors. The "Russian dominance" (though it wasn't as dominant as it could've been at Worlds) has been a long time coming, with the quality and volume of skaters they have. It didn't come out of nowhere.

If anything, 2006-2014 was a wave of Asian domination, led by Yuna, Mao, Miki, ect. I wouldn't say it "opened the door" though--Asian skaters (Lu Chen, Midori Ito) have won Worlds before them. Everything just happens in cycles.

Now, getting back on track: I was kind of hoping some other people would get the experience for WTT... but I guess there are few good choices (and some people might've thought their season was over and didn't go into extensive training). I hope Team Russia is genuinely excited to go and not just going through the motions. :)

No official confirmation, but several of her friends were asked by fans and confirmed that she left to Spb permanently. Maybe they're misinformed, but it does look like Sima is not with Eteri anymore.
Thanks for the info

Eteri probably goes to bed every night repeating to herself, "they will win World and Olympic medals and all of this will be worth it"
:thumbsup::laugh2:

We all have to remember that we're talking about 15/16-year old teenagers :hopelessness:

And those answers were immediately removed if I'm not mistaken. I don't get how it looks like Sima is no longer with Eteri anymore after just a couple of days. Is it the sole fact that she is in SPB right now because the season is over and she has been away from the rest of her family for a long time? She is training with her old group in order to stay in shape. She always stayed close with her previous coach.

Let's sum it up:
- Sakhanovich is supposedly heartbroken and coachless,
- Medvedeva has been defeated in her last event by 13yo,
- Sotnikova is dancing with the stars,
- Pogorilaya finished Worlds at 13, with concussion and barely functioning ankle,
- Radionova's health started fell apart in the end of the season,
- Lipnitskaya is recording commercials and receiving honours,
- Leonova has had quite ugly end of the season.

Does it look like domination? :p;)

You're right, I forgot Liza and her aching back! Papa Mishin said doctors had discouraged her from skating this season...

I'm starting new thread "Why ladies skating in Russia is struggling";)

"Struggling" is nice of course - but is it dramatic enough? :drama: May I venture to suggest.... "Doomed" instead? ;)

After reading the Russian forums, I conclude:
Serafima's leaving Eteri Tutberidze - 90/10 - yes
Serafima's parting with Adian - 50/50
Love relations between Adian and Evgenia - 90/10 - no

I conclude that these coaches need to implement a rule of no dating other skaters in the club - it's too messy. Even if the Adian/Evgenia thing is false - most 16 year olds lack the emotional ability to cope with being around their former boyfriends/girlfriends.

What's your point? Were you trying to be funny? (weak attempt if you were).

50/50 - my point was to accentuate Russian ladies empire has it's own little problems and well, life consists of weak attempts mostly and rare moments of glory, ma'am.:hopelessness:

There are rumors of Proklova leaving Goncharenko and moving to Buyanova now. Some of the more extreme insiders seem to suggest Goncharenko's entire group may fall apart. :hopelessness: And so the off season drama begins :drama:
