State of Russian Ladies in skating: 2014-15 Season

Miss Pogo needs NA coach. Russian style only makes her more gangly. But that is a luxury in her situation.

As long as she doesn't go to Sokolovskaya I think she should be okay in Russia. Also I think her relationship with Tsaraeva must be pretty open because Tsaraeva was the one who said to the press that Anna was considering getting a new coach but that nothing had been decided. So Anna may have just told her, I'm not sure what I want my next move to be, so I intend to look into other coaches and/or training facilities to explore my options and then make a decision once I have gathered information and weighed my options. If she was open like this, she could come back to Tsaraeva and say that she decided she was better off staying with her at Sambo 70 and resume training as usual. I don't think it would necessarily have to be that awkward.
 
Sorry for short :hijacked: but I really have to.

I've been reading Russian fs forum and came across section with current events for children. There is so many of them it's amazing: everybody and everything have it's own championship: notable skaters, coaches, city mayors, federations presidents, cities, regions, autumns, winters, springs, months ("Cup of May 2015":biggrin:) and many more!
Then I noticed event "Ural Snowdrop 2015" (yep, forgot about flowers!:laugh:), thought - Julia is from Ural, let's see, if there is indeed any "Lipnitskaya effect"...

190 girls in five age categories (2009-2005). In one event. :shocked:
I checked also that many (maybe most) of participants are from cities 300-700+ km away from Perm, where event takes place - determination of those kids, parents, coaches and feds is truly admirable.

She was Polina Shelepen coach when she left Eteri. Coaches Zhan Bush and coached Samarin this past season. Former coach of Gerboldt and Anna Ovcharova. Not very good at teaching jump technique and seems to ruin any good technique that her students had. But her skaters seem to love her.

Nobody wants their favorite to go to her.......it usually doesn't end well.

Well, well, well, the Pogorilaya-Tsareva-Buianova plot thickens! Or at least we now have the journalists throwing shade at each other. :laugh:

I don't actually speak Russian, but from what I can tell from GoogleTranslate, it seems that CSKA posted an article criticizing the journalist Arthur Werner for posting false rumors about Pogorilaya moving to Buianova:

You can decide for yourself whether you believe him, but according to him, he heard about Pogorilaya skating at CSKA from his inside sources, but because he wrote about it right away, before Pogorilaya broached the subject with Tsareva, then Buianova/Anna and Tsareva had to take a step back and negotiate the transition. [Which may be when things fell apart..?]

He further notes he was the first to write about Samarin and Proklova being poached from Goncharenko's group and mentions that Buianova has repeatedly try to poach Radionova... :unsure:

Personally, I highly doubt that Radionova would voluntarily choose to leave Goncharenko, so I kinda doubt that Buianova is still hoping to poach her...but really, I have no idea what's going on now. But I'm definitely staying tuned! :popcorn:

I doubt that Radinova would voluntarily leave Gorcharenko because she seems to be very attached to her. However, I won't necessarily dismiss the possibility that Buianova, who has a lot of power, might still hope to poach Radinova, regardless of whether Radinova wants to be poached. With power often comes arrogrance and an inability to accept "no" regardless of whether what they want is right or smart. Who the heck knows! Honestly I hope that they leave Radinova and Gorcharenko alone. Radinova and Tuk have entertained me this year and I want to continue next year. Buianova can just sit over there and focus on helping Sotnikova get street credit (if she actually gets back on competitive ice, which I doubt).

Well, at least the info that Anna tried to move to Buianova is now confirmed by CSKA: ''About three weeks ago Anna Pogorilaya came over to CSKA, unfortunately Elena Germanovna was unable to take her on. But Anna was noticed both on the ice and in the changing room. One well known journalist wrote without any doubt that Anna is with Buianova''

What I gather from Verner's response is that it may well be still on, his exact words are: ''I got to know about a coaching change the very day when Anna appeared on the ice at CSKA for the first time literally for a couple hours. Because according to my info even Tsareva herself did not know about it at the time, Buianova &Co had to pull back temporarily and to negotiate terms of the move with the coach’’

I guess we just have to wait and see.
 
Well, it's he off-season, we need something to occupy us.... we shouldn't want any Skating Drama graciously provided us to be over too quickly - I mean, then what would we do?;)

well, i hope hany asks lipnitskaya out and then she moves to Orser.
Because that would be drama enough to keep us busy all summer.

I don't doubt we will be provided for in some manner - figure skating seems to be very good at that. And almost certainly something that none of us even dreamed of...

I miss the Olympics kinda, all that drama and fanwars were so epic and kinda kept me entretained through summer =(
A bit scared about how i´ll survive this year, seems quite peaceful so far =D
 
So maybe the high level skater Buianova turned down wasn't Prokolova or Pogorilaya? Is it possible she took both girls on and turned down some other student? Not sure who that would be but who knows. So is Anna even training anywhere now?

'Injury is practically not bothering me. I think training for a dancing show was beneficial. Taking part in it became a real treat for me and I gained a new experience by the start of the new season and also more freedom in a choice of future programs as we with my partner Gleb Savchenko were working in such wide range of different styles.
I was following with an interest all what was happening in our sport for the rest of the season. What our girls – Liza & Lena managed to achieve- is wonderful, the real breakthrough. It will be very interesting to return to the ice with such great competitors and together compete against the rest of the field.'

I think Liza will still be at (or near) the top of the Russian women next season, but I suspect Elena will have a sophomore slump as virtually every Russian woman in recent years has had.

If Lena's going to slump this would be the time. That way she would have plenty of time before the Olympics to work things out. I do suspect some growth related problems for her are on the horizon because she looks like she is going to be tall, but I hope nothing too major. I actually worry a little bit for Liza with Plushenko coming back and sucking up Mishin's time. Hopefully it won't be a factor for her. I would like to see Lena and Liza continue to battle like they did this past season. I found them entertaining and likable.
