If both Ashley and Gracie skate their best, I will gladly give the win to Ashley, as she is the most artistic. Let's hope for a great skate by all the beautiful ladies!
I completely agree with you, but I don't think the judges will.

^ yeah, pretty much. That's what I'm getting at - Gold does NOT need to be perfect to win. She can probably win even with a couple of falls. Hell, Wagner did it in 2013...and if Wagner can, anyone can!

Having said that, though, Gold's mistakes tend not to necessarily be falls, but more often doubles or pops. THOSE will hurt her. In that case, she does need to be careful.

The US hasn't reached the level of the Russian ladies yet (duh). At Russian nationals, something as simple as doubling a jump was the difference between winning and losing. I doubt if the margin for error will be that miniscule, especially for Gracie and especially if she nails her SP. A clean SP will likely score her 70+ and give her a decent cushion for the FS. Neither Ashley nor Gracie are known for turning in flawless FSs; 9 times out of 10 both of them will make some kind of mistake (even last year Gracie nearly wiped out on her 3F). As long as Gracie can minimize her major errors, she'll have the cushion from the SP along with any potential errors Ashley might make...it could turn out to be a rather easy win for her.

That is assuming that Ashley makes mistakes. If she skates clean her SP score should be 70+ as well. The SP will be key for both of them.

Gold does have an advantage over Wagner, just not sure it's a HUGE one. Yes, the SP will be critical and yes, that's where Gold can create some separation. But a couple pops in the FS is all it takes to wipe out the difference - IF Wagner skates the FS well. If Wagner makes mistakes as well, Gold is much more likely to hold on for the win (barring meltdown).

We'll see what happens in the SP. Gold has had her share of issues in that segment as well...

Can Ashley put the pressure of remembrance of what happened last year (and previous years) behind her? I somewhat doubt it. I suspect she will play it too safe and falter. Gold might succumb to the pressures of being the reigning champion and just coming off an injury. She might play it too safe too. I really suspect there might be a new national champion. There are 3 former national champions at this event. When did that happen last, if ever, in the United States?

Oh for god sake, it's her current jumps that she needs to concentrate on. This girl's priorities seems to be not on the right place in my opinion. :bang::bang::bang:

It's just something she's practicing sheesh. If she can rotate and land not why not? She has her Salchow back and has been working on everything else.

Well because she is only rotating 3-4 triples in the LP. Work on a 3A seems misdirected if she leaves so many points on the table at the moment under-rotating 3 or 4 jumps.

She's been working on her rotations all her life. Maybe the 3A can mentally push her to rotate other jumps. lol
