Stephen Gogolev

He's an amazing young talent with a ton of potential.

But he has plenty of growing to do yet, physically, technically, and artistically.

I don't think that labeling him a future super-star is going to do him any good at all.

Enjoy his skating for what it is, look forward to what he might do in the future, that's fine. But rarely does it work out to place such high expectations on a young athlete.

Oh well, one can hope he will rise to the top and shine. Super star maybe a little premature, but Canada's team needs a little "rah, rah" at the moment as quite a few of our top skaters have left the building for other pursuits.....

I don't have TSN, so I won't be able to watch any short programs from the final group of each senior-level discipline on Friday :drama: , but I do hope that Stephen has a strong performance at Nationals. :hap10:

Before I forget, here are No Commentary 720p versions of his JGPF programs, in case anyone was interested:

If you haven't heard already, Vimeo has deleted all of my videos and I'm now banned from the site :( , so when I have more time and energy, I'll try to upload my missing vids of Stephen elsewhere.

^ I'm grateful to see this, but it is hideously buffered for me. Has anyone found a video other that this TSN one? I love his SP to Run Boy Run and it kills me to watch this ultra expression of it in stutters & stops!

Brian mentioned Stephen briefly in an interview he did at Euros. Google translate from Russian:

- By the way, you yourself are very emotional during the rental of your charges ...

- I am always very nervous, because I know how they ride in training and how much energy they invest. And here, when Xavi rode almost without preliminary preparation, how was it not to worry? But there is no time to rest, as soon as Monday I will train Yuzuru, Eugene and my other charges. The same Stephen Gogolev must be prepared for the Junior World Championships.

what time is he on? no offense but I would rather not sit through every skater here because i am somewhat busy tomorrow.

3:52pm local time

I don't know what time zone you're in, but that's 9:52 EST (though I'd suggest tuning in a little earlier than that on the odd chance that it runs early... though most of the time it's late not early)

Very excited for Stephen to skate with the big boys. JGPF was one thing, but now he has to run the full gauntlet with 37 other rivals  You can do it, kid! /rod black voice

It was a decent outing for Stephen. I just wish him to have two good programs he can be proud off.
