Stephen Gogolev

How does everyone think he'll do in his first junior season internationally?

Two years ago I would say: Great, with no doubt. Now he tends to pop his jumps or land on two legs. Brian Orser cuts on his jump training because of legs pain accompanying to growth, but tries to improve other skills. In result Stephen is better in spins and far better in interpretation, as I could notice recently.
It will be interesting to see him dealing with other juniors internationally, as he had no competition in Canada. Let's see how he manages in grow-up boys world today :) :cheer:

This kid is simply amazing. I knew he could jump but wow he's really doing everything so well now. Brian is truly doing something incredible. It's like a perfect experiment of giving a true talent to a teacher really knows what to do with it.

Also he is just so tiny among all of the big boys lol. I was in the arena today and almost felt like he's just half the size of Nic Nadeau.

shame about the mistakes, esp popped lutz but he improved so much in basics, looks so much faster! sit spin was so scary i cant believe he saved it  and i love the positions he had in the 1st part of final spin, 3rd one looks so cool :luv17: good luck for LP!! :yahoo:

I had attended the SC Challenge where they both competed, and I thought the exact same thing! :p

RDS (the French version of TSN) was generous enough to air Stephen's Nationals LP, in case some of you might be interested in the French commentary: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6dbunv

Although I had filmed this with my camera (which creates 1080p videos) from my friend's TV screen, the quality is fairly good for this type of recording. I don't have a tripod, so I did my best not to move my hands as much as possible, but because there was no commercial break in between his performance and his kiss & cry, it's quite obvious that my arms were getting tired by the end because his scores are at an angle. (Hey, it's not easy to keep a camera still with only your hands for nearly 7.5 minutes straight.)

I've cut these from the archived livestream.
