Missed the Kitakyushu Novice B Girls event earlier (coincided with Kinoshita Trophy)
Some notable skaters entered
I'll try to watch the archived episode later and report results if the Results page is still not up on the JSF site

Also, I've decided to give up on posting start orders and results for Kanto Summer Trophy
Lots of withdrawals there too (including Taiga Nishino) and not too many familiar names entered to this year
I'll report anything significant from that competition as well

Back to Kitakyushu for the Jr Men's FS (First group already done skating)

Then I'll start working on video from Kinoshita Trophy
Probably video on yt of the Jr Women already...🤔

Thanks for the updates, @tsuyoboogie and @cohkaix !
It seems like Mitsuki isn't going to include the 3A in his last season, and aim for clean programs instead? We'll see what the FS content will be. Good to know he's apparently left his health issues behind.
What happened to Yuhana in the SP? Was the 1F a fluke, or did she seem out of shape? The 3T3T combo sounds like she might have an injury?

Kinoshita Trophy Day 1

Unfortunately there has been quite a bit of withdrawls from this event
Sr Men~Koshiro Shimada, Kao Miura and Sena Miyake
About the above 3 Sr. men who missed the competition:
Sena - is dealing with boots problem
Kao - is dealing with C-19 infection (doesn't seem to be serious though...)
Koshiro - is dealing with fever

Thanks @cohkaix
I knew what was happening with Kao and Sena but not Koshiro
Adding to this info, in their instagram posts both Sena and Kao say they still plan to compete in Gensan Sumnmer Cup next week
It seems Kao has already fully recovered from Covid (according to him, with no lasting effects) but has only been back to training for a couple of days :drama:

I really hope Mitsuki is feeling better
Him being healthy was just the impression I got from watching him skate his SP
Honestly, at this point I think it's best if he avoided the stress of recovering his 3A and just confidently skate the beautiful programs, full of intricate transitions that his fans really appreciate him for 🥰
My greatest wish for him is to leave competitive skating on a high, feeling accomplished and worthy of his past success, rather than due to illness or injury

Regarding Yuhana's SP...I could be wrong but I believe that was just Yuhana being typical Yuhana :drama:
I think her team keeps changing up her SP jump layout to increase the chance of a clean program...trying to see what works best for her
Unfortunately, this could be messing her up even more :palmf:

Video from Kinoshita Trophy Day 2
Wanted to at least share Mao's FS before work (actually I need some sleep before I go to work 😴 )
Will upload more video later

Junior Women FS
1 Mao Shimada FS 134.40 (Passepied; choreo Lori Nichol)
2 Ayumi Shibayama FS 119.24 (Turandot; choreo Tom Dickson)
3 Ami Nakai FS 114.63 (Miss Saigon; choreo Kenji Miyamoto)
4 Ikura Kushida FS 113.34 (Samson and Delilah; Cathy Reed)
5 Sae Shimizu FS 103.76 (Un Sospiro; choreo Cathy Reed)
6 Haruna Murakami FS 101.43 (Australia; Cathy Reed)

Senior Women FS
1 Hana Yoshida FS 132.11 (The Planets~Star Wars: Princess Leia's Theme; choreo Tom Dickson)
2 Rion Sumiyoshi FS 122.98 (Echantress; choreo Shae-Lynne Bourne)
3 Maria Egawa FS 117.54 (Les Miserables; choreo Kenji Miyamoto)
4 Kinayu Yokoi FS 114.04 (The Phantom of the Opera; Kohei Yoshino)
Edit: Forgot to make Kinayu's FS accesible for view. Should be working now. Sorry for the inconvenience

Junior Pair
(showcase of their new FS)
Haruna Murakami/Sumitada Moriguchi nickname: HaruSumi (Beatles Medley)
They obviously have A LOT to learn and improve on but the Death Spiral still seems to be their Pair element nemesis
During warm up they attempted it a couple of times unsuccessfully then went to the boards for advice from Narumi Takahashi and Cathy Reed
On their final try (during warm up) Haruna was able to stay on her blade and received lots of applause from all the skaters and coaches watching

Junior Ice Dance (showcase of their new FD)
Nao Kida/Masaya Morita (nickname: KidaMori)
They look ready for their JGP debut! 🤩

There is too much depth in the Japanese women :drama: Mao did amazingly, Hana was wonderful, Ayumi was as great as always, Rion can at least rotate her 4T...

Also are HaruSumi going to do SBS 3-3s? 3-1Eu-3? Because they both seem to have very solid triples especially for a pairs team.

Damn, that's a great result for Kinayu 😳

I must admit, I don't think I had heard of her before this, but looking into her past results this seems to be a big step in the right direction. Sadly, I feel like Kinayu was one of the victims of the pandemic. She was on an upward trajectory towards the end of the 2019/2020 season, improving in consistency and finally managing to land the 3A in competition... And then came the pandemic and she really struggled afterward.

This score would have had her in 5th at Jr Nationals and even if you detract the 3.60 points for the Choreo Sequence and take into consideration the Junior SP requirements of last season, she likely would have still been at least in the top 10 if she had skated like this back then.
(Side note: Very cute that she used the same dress for her FS for her JGP debut that her big sister Yuhana had also used 4 years earlier for her own JGP debut 🥺)

Thank you again for your effort!
I saw her first last spring in this CS in Italy when they managed a live stream on youtube :) :cheer:
I thought well she could bring a little smile after she finished but it's maybe because she's so young or not completely confident with the program at this stage? But hey, there it was when the score came up :yahoo:(were they talking about Axel and 4T being the reason for that score or something?)

And wow, that sound of the 3A! All the jumps here sound so crisp. And how nice is it that the camera angle got her coach's reaction to the fall as well 😅

To me, she has like "best of both worlds" - spirals etc. like Karen Chen and ultra-c-elements like the russians. Very generally said, of course, and from a very outside point of view. I do like reading a lot of the Japanese skaters related threads where you all often post a lot of helpful information and also translate or give information what's going on in Japan. Really appreciate that!

I also hope Mao gets her time and that she can mature as a healthy teenager and stays in the sport as long as she wants to

Re. the coach (not the one by the rink side but the one with her at K&C), so it looks like Satsuki Coach will take over the place, as Coach Yamato is no longer working with Hamada (and joining Mao Asada's new tour.)

BTW, if ppl are not quite familiar with Satsuki Coach...Satsuki is the sister of Kana Muramoto.
