All-Star Survivor started right after Pearl Islands finished taping. Since Rupert was voted out early enough, he had time to rest up before taping of all-star. There wasn't enough time for Sandra or Jon to get back into fighting form. I'd be surprised if Lil was interested in going again.

As a bonafide Reality-TV junkie, I am counting down the days. Until then I will be basking in the glory of The Simple Life, Surreal Life and Celebrity Mole Yucatan.

Just got TV Guide for next week and they are featuring the All-Star Survivors.
I was mistaken earlier. Rupert was home for a month before being invited to play in All-Star. No mention of any other Pearl Island survivors; so, I'm not sure why Jon and Sandra weren't asked to play again.
As for how the invitees were picked, Mark Burnett started by writing down the names of the contestants that stood out the most in his mind. As people declined invitations to participate, he went further down his list.

Thank GOD Jon was not asked to compete again; I swear if I had been stuck on that island with him during the last go-round, either one of us would have to have been voted off within the first 6 days, or I'd've hacked him to pieces with a machete!! He bugged me THAT much; and that was LONG before the dead grandmother thing....

according to rumors that have flown around the internet, all winners were invited (except Sandra, since the Pearl Islands winner was unknown until after All Stars was shot), but Vecepia turned it down due to having just had a baby, and Brian allegedly will no longer have anything to do with Survivor.
Elisabeth from S2 and Colleen from S1 were definitely asked - I read it in some official Survivor stuff. I can't remember why Colleen isn't doing it, but Elisabeth just got her gig with The View. I heard 2 different rumors about Paschal English from S4 - the first being that he declined, feeling he was too old to compete {Rudy obviously does not feel the same!}, the second being that ALL previous Survivors except the winners had to re-audition to get onto All-Stars, and Paschal didn't make the cut. Based on official stuff coming out about the show, I think it's clear that the 2nd item was false.
I'm glad that Shii-Ann is getting a 2nd chance - I wish Kel from S2 were on the show. I'd love to see him going up against the Blue Bikini again (Jerri Manthey)! Not looking forward to seeing more of Big Tom from S3 - many folks found him charming, I found him gross. It also has not been long enough for me since having to see Jenna from S6.

Yep - I think Brian was the car salesman. I'm thinking of the one who had the alliance with Clay, Granny and Helen. He was also in a soft porn movie (remember reading that somewhere). His wife couldn't even try to eat the bug during the loved ones visit episode. After winning Survivor, either he or his wife was arrested for domestic abuse, but I think the charges were dropped.

Yes, Brian is the used car salesman/softcore porn star. And I haven't heard why he won't have anything to do w/Survivor anymore, other than speculation that he did it, and he's done with it (and that the negative feelings toward him by other players - especially the ones who voted for him! - may make a reunion less than appealing. Again, just speculation floating around the ether).
Brian's wife CeCe was the one arrested for spousal abuse, during the time between the actual competition being over and the winner being announced. But Brian dropped the charges.
