Tatiana Volosozhar & Maxim Trankov

Wohooooo ;) any guesses? I say... 20.8 :)

I think, it'll be on Friday or Saturday, I am guessing before the 13th of August, when fast begins for Russian Orthodox Church. I remember reading in magazine about Tanya saying, that they're going to have a church ceremony after the register office, but they cannot do it during the fast, as it's forbidden by church.

Thank you for enlightening me, Svetik. I must admit I'm not really familiar with Christianity.

Update(!): it is confirmed that they are getting married on August 18th, in Moscow. http://www.woman.ru/relations/wedding/article/152428/

Maxim: "We could not determine the date of the wedding, becausse as athletes our schedule is tight and full of training, competitions and shows. That leaves not much time to celebrate together with most of our fellow athletes. In August, found a free week in order to prepare for the wedding and to celebrate it together with all of our closest friends."

Tatiana: "We believe that the ceremony will be a magical event that will be remembered not only by us but also by all our friends. And also we want to share our happiness with our huge army of fans around the world who have already sent us their congratulations. We are very pleased."

Oh I wanted to ask you guys something since im finding it difficult to piece together, I recently read on Maxim’s wikipedia page that the Canadians said he criticised them really badly. I knew he was a commentator for pairs this year and when I read what he had said on FSUniverse I honestly thought he wasnt actually that bad (at least not really deserving of what D/R said about them and having it on his wiki page) and just criticised them the way a commentator ususally would? All he did was focus on what he thought about their skating and not actually attack them personally at all, I think he made one juvenile comment but that was honestly it? Yet all ive seen/heard from the Canadians is them agreeing he is a diva and (if I remember right, I read this ages ago) something along the lines of that they didnt like him cause he was ‘never happy’ after a perfect skate (which is rubbish obv), and that he was a 'sore winner'... lmao. Im just a little confused, I know how headstrong Maxim can be sometimes  so I was wondering if I was perhaps missing/havent seen or read something? I dont mean to start drama or anything by the way, I know this is old news but I am just genuinely curious as to what happened  I think it would be a bit unfair to have something like that on his wiki page when he wasn’t actually that bad :\ (Edit: I actually do like the canadians too dont get me wrong, the whole interview with TSL was a bit dodgy for me though imo)

The Canadians should get a better translator if they want to be informed correctly what has been said and by whom and within the proper context, and not rely on web sites where people dream up half of the stuff for their own amusement or for justification for some unreasonable hate. Same goes for listening to the TSL interviewers who are eager to get a reaction out of a favorite skater without thinking twice what a bad favor they are doing their favorites by getting them to say things that will put them in conflict with another skater and all for a little satisfaction of hearing some not so favorite skater being publicly badmouthed. So far the TSL guys have done it twice and I have no desire to watch them anymore, they are quite unprofessional. Maxim never did personally attack the Canadians. On the contrary he said very complimentary things about their personalities, drive, lutz, etc. including that in the absence of the first two pairs from the previous WC it was quite normal and expected that the two time bronze medalists should win. He critiqued the style of thier skating, saying it looked mostly like parallel skating of two technically very strong single skaters, and he was by far not alone in his opinion. In retaliation Meagan and Eric were provoked by the TSL intrviewers to pass judgement on Maxim's character, behavior and attitude, things that are not their business at all and comment negatively on those. It was entirely beneath them and I hope that they will learn from the experience how to deal maturely with a journalist's pressure (although the TSL guys could hardly be called such in all honesty from what I have seen of them) and how to deal with criticism that anyone who is on the top will inevitably receive at one point or another. They can really take a page from Max and Tania's book on that point as they are the perfect examples on how to withstand the pressure and to not say what they don't wish to say and how to deal professionally with criticism.

Holy crap! That's less than a month! I can't wait! Isn't this like the fifth wedding of figure skaters this year? ...

Ahhh I see! Thank you for clearing that up, I totally agree I really got the impression the main problem was with the TSL interviewers that almost baited them into making those answers. Poor Maxim has a bit of a reputation and seems to be misunderstood which can make him quite an easy target  I mean what kinda question is 'who's the bigger diva~?' goodness me! You're right though, Max and Tania didn't fight back at them or anything, I think they have a good grasp on how to react and interact with press :)

I think one of the issues with Maxim comments is that he is an active skater, although he sat out the last season. He competed with D/R and mainly was going to compete against them again. So it probably sounded unrespectful when he talked about their weaknesses. If the active skaters talk about their rivals, they usually don't analyze their style a lot and if so, they only mention their strenghs. I guess when everyone heard that he critized them, they though he must have been harsh and unpolite, despite the fact some people may have not heard the commentary.

Ahhhh I see, so it isnt normal for rival skaters to analyse like that? Interesting! (Forgive me im a little new to the sport ahaha) Yeah thats what I didnt understand, he complimented some of their elements a whole load too! It sounds like the whole situation must've been a bit of a misunderstanding, Max being his usual self  + translation errors

I not fully sure about that, I just assumed that. I also guess the skaters want to concentrate on themselbes, so they don't really collect all info about other skaters. However, I may be wrong, maybe Plushy and Yagudin for example used to analyze their skating a bit more. ;)

True, I guess the analysis depends on the skaters you end up against or interacting with! The whole thing seemed to be blown a little bit out of proportion but im glad it just seems to have died down a little now.

This is a request for kinoriH: I know you will read this as you are the most regular poster in this thread. Since you are the original poster of that thread on FSU that turned into a disgusting trash talk about Tania and Max that demeans their characters and relationship, and as you self proclaimed yourself as a big fan of V/T, I hope you feel enough dismay and responsibility to ask the admins there to close it or move it into the trash can. The fan threads on both FSU and GS sites both discuss the wedding and are the appropriate places for that discussion. I did not think I would have to spell out the obvious but apparently someone must: most of the people that post on FSU hate V/T with a passion, it is not going to change, and the more you post about them the more dedicated space you give them to trash the characters of two of the most admirable athletes of our time. I am sorry for the blunt talk, but Tania and Max don't deserve the horror that thread had turned into. Thanks.

Whoa, I just checked that thread...

How can people be so disrespectful towards two human beings they have NEVER met?
I get the whole "gossip" aspect of V/T's relationship, but what is up with all the grand delusions and accusations being thrown around? Some people need to get off their damn morally-correct high horse!

I just read that thread for the first time and my god I've never seen something derail so fast in my life! I would advocate trashing the thread as well KinoriH, it seems like theres one poster in particular on it who has a vendetta against them and keeps inciting mean comments. Now I know why Tatiana said she didn't bother looking on the forums anymore
