Thanks Again CBC!!

I know it's not the sentiments of everyone here at Golden Skate, but I thought CBC did a great job of covering the Olympics and wish to say thanks. I loved their excellent Web page as well and their background specials that aired on their newsworld channel 26. It all added to the enjoyment of the Games. As always their figure skating coverage was great.

CBC does not have the huge budget that NBC has, but all-in-all I quite enjoyed their coverage. I just hope that CTV does an equally good job at 2010 games in Vancouver.

Oh yea - CBC will cover the World Championships in Calgary!!! That's great.

The best part about the CBC coverage was that they showed most of it live in the afternoon instead of waiting until prime time.

NBCs primetime strategy backfired anyway, because they were creamed by American Idol, Survivor and Dancing with the Stars.

I also loved the fact that CBC showed almost all of the skaters live in the afternoon, and then the highlights again on primetime, in case you didn't catch the live coverage.

I too, thought they did an outstanding job. My t.v. was on morning and afternoon and if I missed something during the 'live' portion I would tune in at prime time to get the highlights. If something was outstanding like some of the speedskating races and events where we won a medal I just loved seeing it again. I am so psyched for the Vancouver games. Canada Rocks and so does the CBC. CTV is going to have to come up big if they expect to live up to the expectations that CBC put out there in the last few Olympic games. Go Canada Go!!!!!!

I have to say I was a bit disappointed with CBC's evening package coverage - too much fluff and anchors interviewing each other, not enough of the events.
However, their daytime coverage was excellent and, with the exception of the pairs short program, their live coverage of the skating during the day was spectacular.

Thanks to everyone at CBC, the technicians never receive the credit they deserve (as my Dad is a CBC tech). But the figure skating coverage was better than I had expected.

I'm dreading when it is turned over to CTV/TSN...THAT should be interesting. Rod Black and I don't get along. I'd rather have a root canal than listen to him I think.

I must say at the beginning of the Olympics the coverage was lacking but by the end CBC really picked up the slack. Kudos to them.
