Spits and Suds is joined by US figure skating championships gold medalist Danny O’Shea. On October 18-20 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, it’s the 2024 Skate America event. Host Gavin Spittle had asks Danny why he played all the sports he played except for hockey. Danny talks about his journey in sports and getting into figure skating. He explains the difference between ice hockey skates and figure skating skates. Danny peels the curtain back for everyone and explains how figure skaters can find their partners to work with. He explains the art of skating and how figure skaters are now helping NHL players as well as amateur hockey players with their skating. Danny also talks about how people can attend a free skating clinic on October 5th, at Dallas Figure Skating Club, at both their McKinney location and their Euless location. Danny shares lots of stories and his enjoyment for skating on this edition of Spits and Suds!

Thanks @oshea61. I came here to post a link to the same podcast. This is an excellent discussion with Danny about figure skating, his partnership with Ellie and how they got together. Danny explains things so well. He's a great ambassador for the sport and especially for pairs skating.

During the interview, Danny promoted upcoming Skate America and a public workshop called SkateFest, which is the skating clinic you referenced.

Everyone who has an interest in pairs and in Danny should listen. It is a 30-minute podcast, so manageable to squeeze into a tight listening schedule.

Finally had a chance to listen. Danny is an engaging speaker and I was impressed by the interviewer. Even when asking basic questions, he had clearly done his homework, and Danny hit the sweet spot between explaining the basics but not talking down.

Also love the idea of Ice Partner Search as the dating app for pairs.
