Everyone's already moved on irl.

Trying to talk to people outside of the rinks about it is like ordering pizza in a coffee shop. Even at the rinks! I asked one girl who is one of our best up and comers and she said only "not concerned, I'm just trying to better myself" than I saw her get her first unharnessed 2a!!!

that's probably the best attitude to have, tbh.

You would think those who have moved on would not visit thread. Strange passive-aggressiveness, I have to say.

Plus some sort of systemic safeguard to prevent tech specialists' cheats.

Just looking at the reactions from live audience: http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?49008-2014-Olympics-Ladies-Free-Skate/page74

"This is Russia."
"***?"
"Oh come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Still first? Wow. Just wow."
"That is a load of bull. She should NOT be getting that score, ***?"
"Higher PCS than Mao "
"Disgusting."
"Gotta be f-ing kidding me."
"LOLOLOLOL. What a joke."
"Cup of Russia Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Biggest judging scandal I've ever witnessed."

Sad.

my point is though, people i've spoken with at work, and from university who DONT care enough to join a forum, don't care enough to talk more than 2 minutes about it, but DID watch it simply assumed Russia cheated/fixed the scores, and they've moved on. most people don't care. they may be a little more incensed if it were a skater from the USA (who was "wronged"), but even then would they probably only marginally care more.

also, just look at the total medal count - when's the last time Russia did that well? Their natural assumption is home cooking, and don't care beyond that. the ladies result is just one event.

One could make the same argument about people who only seek to bring the sport down. You offer nothing constructive or positive or shed any positive insight on skating. But I'm not a (call me what you will) and respect others opinions and right to be here or wherever they want to be. That holds true for the ones who I disagree with too.

Here is the step sequence comparison that ladyepheu posted earlier. S/he posted the links but they were not properly hyperlinked (s/he used text for "dot") so I missed those earlier. Step sequences were something that bugged me from the SP, so this has been the most convincing analysis for me.

Actual movements. (lots of .gif's so the page takes a while to load)

Not even close. Watch how much labored/unclean Adelina is compared to Yuna.

Edit: Sam-Skwantch, I may not respond to you from here on because you are being ignored.
Edit2: Thank you, kslr0816. Corrected.

^ you posted the same link twice for the last two

Can someone explain what the judges look for when it comes to step sequence? I genuinely don't know what the criteria are

Speed, clean edges, all the turns, effortlessness, upper body (arms, torso, head) movements, and choreo, etc.

Makes no sense that Yuna received lvl 3 (both SP/FS) and Adelina received lvl 4 (both SP/FS, only skater to do so). I read an interview that Yuna spent much time improving steps to receive lvl 4. And she received lvl 4 for her steps since 2012~2013 season. She still got the jumps, but lost the steps?

And the circumstance is also very much obvious. Adelina is the only person who received lvl 4 step in SP. Once she skated FS, and after the top 4 skaters (except for Yuna) skated FS, they all received lvl 4. Then Yuna received lvl 3 skating last. Only skater among top 4 to receive lvl 3 for step sequence in FS.

Isn't this one bit suspicious?

That's why the corruption doesn't disappear. The same is likely to reoccur in P'Chang in four years. But you should not be surprised.

Ask and you shall receive!

In the "Figure Skating References" section of the GS forum, there's a thread called "Evaluating Step Sequences." The first post, from ladyepheu (sp?) was so good that the mods moved it from this thread and gave it a thread of its very own. I'm not a skater, just a longtime fan. For me it was very helpful -- liked it so much that I printed it! Hope you enjoy it, too.

Very nice! See, this is what I am talking about. People will analyze such a great skater as Yuna for years to come. Those who think Yuna's videos will not be used in classrooms et al. are in delusion. Comparisons will naturally follow. :agree: What will the deniers say?

Safe Conclusion #1: Tech panel's calls on Step Sequences were rigged, or at least egregiously mistaken. (Big Kudos to ladyepheu)

I will try to list elements as we come to each and every conclusion.

It is impossible to substantiate suspicions without an investigation. The outrage and reaction does not have to do with Yuna fans, and doesn't have to do with the sure fire notion that the judges conspired to make Adelina 1st. It has to do with the mismatch between the judges scores and the skaters' performances. This is true for many of the performances of the night, not just Yuna's or the Russians. Again, reducing the whole controversy to "Yuna Bots" is absurd.

No, but again, do you honestly believe only TWO judges marked the programs for who they believe deserved to win?

Again back to a discussion for the discussion's sake. Unless you have "compelling counter-evidence," your refutation on the number of judges goes just as weak and brittle.
