Is this a new rule for ioc membership?!?Yes!
Let’s cancel one of the most popular Olympic sports because Russia can’t get their act together and not invade sovereign nations.
That’s absolutely the logical conclusion.

Petrosian’s skating has been all over the internet, and with how much buzz there’s been, it’s hard to believe they haven’t seen at least some of it.
Oh I think Mao’s waxel in 2008 was hilarious but forgotten immediately and she won!!!! Just like Petrosian did.I saw some of it. Pretty bad, frankly. Even Eteri and Shcherbakova were frowning after watching that mess. I wasn't impressed. That may have been the silliest looking failure of an axel jump to open a program in skating history. You'd think there was a mouse running across the ice and she hopped over it.
That's a good question, Does anyone here know the answer?Do judges still do that thing of watching practices and pre scoring skaters in their heads?
Very unique indeed. I assume that the Individual Neutral Athletes from Russia and Belarus will automatically be seeded last for the SP because they do not have scores from recent past ISU competitions. Will their scores from the qualifying tournament count for seeding? As a judge, this subject often comes up. Performers are " Seeded " based on their scores for the season. Like Flights in figure skating. This season is unique with the Russian Skaters out so, it will be Interesting.
That's a great question. I love skating so much and I'd hate to see anyone left out. I think politics will Sadly be involved.Very unique indeed. I sadly cannot provide any proof/link to the source but I know I read somewhere that judges do watch practices and warm-ups very closely. I’ll try and think where I could have picked it up. It does make sense to me - the time for decision making is so short literally seconds - judges have to be preparedThat's a good question, Does anyone here know the answer?
Certainly this was the common back in the 6.0 days. In fact, as I recall, judges (especially at lower level competitions) were expected to attend practices so that they would be prepared as to what to look for when the competition began. Needless to say, this procedure was roundly criticized by fans who objected to "reputation judging," but the protesters didn't get very far with their objections.
Do you agree you can skate well and still have a mistakeJust because someone "won" doesn't mean they skated well.
I think that this made a lot of sense back in the 6.0 days. It helped the judges' preparation to know that a particular skater is planning a triple flip, but has been struggling to get the full rotations -- be sure to pay attention! Once in a while a judge would blink at the wrong moment, and miss the element altogether. With that scoring system we never knew how a particular judge "scored" a particular element.I sadly cannot provide any proof/link to the source but I know I read somewhere that judges do watch practices and warm-ups very closely. Personally, I am not such a harsh critic. Yes, it is not very interesting to watch if the program is all jump, no skating. But IMHO many Eteri skaters did have balance and personality. Julia Lipnitskia. Evgenia Medvedeva, Alina Zagitova, Kamila Valieva (especially as a junior), Anna Shcherbakova, Alyona Kostornia.l - a typical product of Eteri factory - good technically but devoid of personality.
Of course it is only my humble opinion but Adelia did not impress me at all - a typical product of Eteri factory - good technically but devoid of personality. Not so with Petr I genuinely recommend to watch his programs at Russian GPF. I am not saying he is a medal contender in Milan but certainly one to watch for the future!

I am reminded of Yuna Kim, carrying the whole country of South Korea on her back. They wouldn't even let her go following the OGM in 2010, but made her soldier on four years later. ( And I greedily say "thank you" to the Korean Federation for Les Miz at 2013 Worlds.)To be fair to the girl, I gather from the odd interview headline I've seen she's been more than aware that the onus of being the sole Russian at Milan and expected by the whole country to sweep the field...
