Did Michelle march in the opening ceremonies at Salt Lake?

yes she did... Costas, Couric, and Lauer all made a big deal about it because it was her *gasp* first opening ceremonies :sheesh: lol

I'd be over teh moon for a chance to meet W... :)

Clinton, I'd love to chew him out for a good solid year... so yeah it's probably a good thing I'll never get that chance

Michelle marched at SLC. I thought she and Tanith lookd radient, of course it could have been the cold too, LOL. I was holding my breath that John or Rena wouldn't get hurt....they looked cute!

Noo!

Michelle was at Salt lake but not Nagano. The reason it was made an issue is that it's unusual for a first time Olympian to miss the the opening ceremonies. They were "worried" that Michelle was so wrapped in her skating that she couldn't enjoy her Olympics. It was a stupid thing for the media to latch on to but when she "failed" by winning silver they figure there must of been truth to their "worries".

The thing is Michelle had a simi Olympic "experience" in 1994. She didn't need one in 1998. I mean in a just enjoy herself experience way. 4 years later the Olympics was in the US and I think most Americans wanted to enjoy the opening ceremonies. This year she was probably antsy to get out there and show herself. She hasn't really skated in public except once. When you are filled with tension it can make you feel tight. Michelle didn't want to take the chance that this tight was injury related. I mean her coach wasn't there to tell her it looks like nerves or if it could be the injury. Michelle was just being careful. I think she will be fine :)

I don't think Michelle is really worried about how the media portrays her... it's evident they're not going to forget her OR count her out... they're still touting her as the American Lady to beat on most networks so *shrugs* in the Media's eyes she could do no wrong so long as she stays on her feet... so I don't think that was her reason to march in the ceremonies... perhaps she's looking at this being her last games and she wants to take it all in one last time

or she just wanted to be out there... we can speculate forever and a day but unless she answers the questions we'll never know lol

the ones who jump to her defence are the real Sasha fans even if they say they are not.

alright, I'll agree with that. But OTOH, just because you defend a skater once or twice does not make you a fan of hers. (I've defended Irina before.) If you do it constantly, though...

:sheesh: didn't michelle "skip out" in 98? A lot of the pairs skaters didn't go to the opening ceremonies because they compete...

Yeah, she skipped them in 1998 & was hammered for it by the press & some fans alike.

The girl can't get a break no matter what she does.

However, I too wished that she skipped the OC I knew that it wouldn't be good for her. However, With this MAYBE(maybe) her last olympic & the federation pushing for her to go to the OC.

Michelle is very smart when it comes to her body & I think that maybe she was pushed into going. They needed a Female US story. On the mens side they have Miller. With Sasha Sitting out & being the Current champ. Michelle had to showup. guited into going.

But she will be fine I think in a day or two. It is not a Injury or anything. it is stiffness that always works it self out.

I think if she does skate, although I have my doubts, she will have to go out and do the SP absolutely COLD.

When you think about it. No practice since late September; no competitions; and now facing the SP next week. NOT EASY? IT'S ABSOLUTLEY IMPOSSIBLE!

Remember, the Warm-Up in competition is not a practice session. It is as it's name implies.
