My Fair Lady, but I love the recording of Camelot with Julie Andrews and Richard Burton!

^ Camelot is my favorite musical of all time. I refuse to watch the movie version again, though (Vanessa Redgrave can't sing!).

I've only seen the movie version once, and that was more than enough. It's interesting that it came out only a few years after Marni Nixon was hired to sing the songs for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. Ms. Nixon had been 'ghosting' actresses for years; one I recall was for Deborah Kerr in The King and I. Oh yes, and for Natalie Wood in West Side Story. But it was reported widely and caused a media brouhaha with MFL. I guess the idea, with Camelot, was in reaction to that.

A few years ago I watched on the Turner Classic Movie channel the whole My Fair Lady, with the songs Audrey had performed and recorded for it. It was wonderful. I preferred Audrey's singing, because the voice and character were more consistent that way. Her singing was quite charming (and it was astronomically better singing than years later done for Camelot by Vanessa, IMHO). I can't remember if they used a lower key for the song "I Could Have Danced All Night," or whether that song was the proverbial 'straw that broke the camel's back.' Whatever the sequence was, the decision was made to bring in Ms. Nixon.
