I certainly wish Timothy Goebel well, and I hope he skates two clean programs at Nationals. However, to be honest, he simply is not the skater who won the bronze medal at Salt Lake. Timothy isn't the "Quad King" any longer, and his programs are laden with falls and other errors. He has been injured so many times and has had to withdraw from numerous competitions due to injury.
He could score very high in the technical side in the old scoring system, and this helped to compensate for his relatively weak artistry, but he simply cannot do well with the new scoring system - not with his still weak artistry.
It looks as though his final competitive season may end in a whimper.
