BTW, I wonder has there been earlier so many competitors? As this competition is never shown on our TV, I have not always followed it that closely. Now as I´m participating in the "Gold Picks" contest again, LOL...

Yes, I believe there always has been this many competitors. You don't hear much about the skaters from Mexico, Korea, etc. but they have participated in the 4CC since the competition started being held.
