This was a good year for choreography, though I found the mens event surprisingly disappointing compared to the other disciplines in this way. There were lots of programs I enjoyed watching even if the skaters didn't have the skates of their lives.
Virtue/Moir's SD and FD
Iliusheshkina/Moscovitch SP - I can't stand Josh Grobin, or I'd list the LP as well.
Laurine Lecavalier's SP
Gilles and Poirier's SD and FD, but especially the FD
Papadakis/Cizeron's FD
Sui/Han's SP and LP - brilliant, brilliant work.
Shibutanis SD
Kaetlyn Osmond's SP and LP (I loved watching Gabby Daleman's SP and LP, but that was not due to the choreography itself)

For the Choreography alone?? Mariah Bell's LP was spectacular when she skated cleanly which unfortunately, was not very often.
Kaetlyn Osmond had fantastic programs this year.
I'm still sad about him missing the podium at Worlds but, I loved every aspect of Patrick Chan's programs this year. Especially Blackbird...
For the US. I liked seeing Nathan and Jason skate as well as they did at Worlds. There were very few people (Myself included) who thought we'd have 3 spots for the Olympic season.
Lastly, Karen Chen. To say that I was shocked to see her finish in 4th would be an understatement. She really delivered in the SP and was nearly clean in the LP. IMO, it wouldn't have mattered if she'd skated cleanly as the Ladies who scored higher deserved the podium placement. For me, this was an exciting and well skated Championship that I have been re-watching over and over again.

01. Gracie Gold, Daphnis et Chloe - we never got to see it performed well, but I think this could have been the most exciting, heart-swooning program of the year. It's something that feels like it would have been a signature Michelle Kwan or Yu-Na Kim program
02. Sui/Han, Blues for Klook - bringing pairs skating to a new level with tremendous intricacy of movement and avant-garde expression
03. Adam Rippon, The Birds - a genius musical juxtaposition, the dance teams all tried to do it this year, none were nearly this good
04. Jeremy Abbott, Old Pine - seen only once at Japan Open, it endures for me as one of most creative and heart-warming programs this year
05. Karen Chen, On Golden Pond - it fills you with such comfort, she transmits the feeling of gazing out on a beautiful lake as the sun is rising
06. Patrick Chan, A Journey - one of the deepest meditations, reminiscences of the year
07. Jason Brown, The Piano - wonderfully lilting
08. Savchenko/Massot, Lighthouse - following the lead of Papadakis/Cizeron last year, they very successfully tapped into a modern, fluid, dream-like type of skating
09. James/Cipres, Earned It - sexy and powerful
10. Sui/Han, Bridge Over Troubled Water - a standard that continues to be enormously effective for performing artists, they nailed it
11. Savchenko/Massot, That Man - I include this program for the state it was in at Nebelhorn Trophy, with the glorious twist exit they had. When that choreography got removed the program became lesser, but at least we have that one performance to look back on
12. Yuzuru Hanyu, Hope and Legacy - it's like following a river, sometimes quiet, sometimes rapid, sometimes rocky, you are submerged either way
13. Stepanova/Bukin, At Last + Bills - they may not be the best dancers, but from the standpoint of attempted choreography this was a fabulous dance program, the version they showed at Skate Canada. It's a strange pairing of music that is somehow just tons of fun, the movements are infectious
14. Chock/Bates, Bad to the Bone + Uptown Funk - it's impossible to perfectly choreograph 'Bad to the Bone' with the short dance rules that have to be followed, but they ended up making it work well enough, and with Uptown Funk the dance really becomes special
15. Adam Rippon, Bloodstream - he retired this program early in the season and I wish we would have gotten more of it, because I ended up loving this obscure song and thought the program was suitably developing into an emotional, longing piece of work
And I would love to put Shoma Uno's long program here somewhere, if not for the last minute of it, which became a bit too overbearing.

Finally caught up with the lower ranked dance teams I hadn't been paying attention to. The Smart/Diaz free dance to Experience is my favorite dance of the year now! This is what I would have expected from Papadakis/Cizeron. Beautiful, flowing, defined and unresolved at the same time, sad and uplifting at the same time. This is the kind of effortlessly transcendent movement and intention that everyone has been trying to copy from Papadakis/Cizeron's 2016 showing, but that every team failed to fully capture this season. So glad I found this!

Ladies:
- Carolina Kostner LP and EX - no one, except Mao, can interpret and add so much in classical programs; he lines, finishing of movement and detail-orientation of the choreos are mid-blowing.
- Satoko Miyahara SP and FS - perfect usage of her quality and musicality
- Laurine Lecavelier SP, FS and EX - Fabian Bourzat is an amazing choreographer and showed off Laurine's talet and versatility this season in a big way!
- Anna Pogorilaya SP (Misha Ge -
) and FS (Morozov) - both choreos worked fabulously with Anna's style and dramatic flare
- Wakaba Higuchi SP and FS - a revelation for me this season, so much uniqueness and intricacy in them and Wakaba really was able to interpret/portray those programs well, her maturity and polish is impressive at that age
- Gabrielle Daleman SP and FS - SP in particular is hands down my favourite program and choreography this season; a synergy created by music, movement AND skater's personality is just explosive!
- Kaetlyn Osmond SP and FS - both Lance Vipond and Jeffrey Buttle did fantastic job to bring out Kaetlyn's performer qualitites in those programs!
Men:
- Shoma Uno FS - my favourite choreography, the clash between edge/drama of the music and softness/fluidity of Shoma's skating is just beyond for me. The accentuation of the rhythm in the beginning sequence and first step sequence, last spin are amazing. It seemed like music and movement are bringing the best out of him, and same went other way around
- Adam Rippon SP and FS - Ibiza clubbing at night and calm of the morning light in the morning, he added so much of himself to each choreography!
- Julian Yee SP - probably the only 'I put a spell on you' I like, choreography gets alive done by Julian, he's a gifted performer!
- Jason Brown SP and FS - perfect usage of Jason's extension, flexibility, flow and elegance
- Patrick Chan SP and FS - again, capitalization on Patrick's best qualities: speed, edge work, flow, fluidity, musicality, expression, lyricism/modernism/minimalism of style
- Deniss Vassiljevs SP and FS - Lambiel's choreos are a perfect fir for Deniss aesthetic, sensibility and way of movement/expression, SP wowed me at Worlds, bada**ery in best way possible from so innocent-looking Deniss!
- Nicolas Nadeau FS - Elvis really went alive in this program, love its construction, embodying both lyrical and energetic sides of Elvis' music, and those details in choreography perfectly expressing Elvis' aesthetic!!!
- Alexei Bychenko SP - another case of good choreography, reflecting on best assets of a skater and getting alive in motion, he gave it much-needed personality and spark
- Yuzuru Hanyu SP - Rockstar Yuzuru is my kind of Yuzuru, choreo was really good, but spectacular in actual performance!
- Mikhail Kolyada SP - quirky stuff for quirky and adorable guy! He really made it work in amazing way in action

I don´t understand how is possible that Smart/Díaz got the best FD program and costumes IMO of the Montreal team, though I don´t think P/C and H/D would done a better job than S/D with this program. I don´t know if Adria is a lucky guy or he bring out the best of their partners, because Sara and Olivia are great, dream partners.

Pairs - surprisingly, there were a lot of great choreos, mainly due to mighty Silvia Fontana and John Kerr
- Aliona/Bruno SP and FS - my favourite set of programs, FS is a gem (and a keeper if you ask me!)
- Wenjing/Han SP and FS - SP is all kind of awesomesauce!!!
- Vanessa/Morgan SP and FS - the most innovative, unique and eye-catching stuff this year, and the level of sizzle in SP...
- Ksenia/Fedor FS - love me some modernity for them!
- Liubov/Dylan FS -
- Peng/Jin SP - oh yeah, quirk factor and sass of that choreography was infectious!
Ice Dance:
- Tessa/Scott SD - absolute icon, for me the only choreography which at the same time: embodied rhythm imposed in unique way, showed off musicality and portrayed story, got the sass and cheekiness of Prince music, had spectacular crispness, fluidity and wow factor each time performed (and grew each time performed!), had appropriate expression and engaged audience. Not even starting on personalities/character/skill presented by Tessa/Scott...
- Piper/Paul SD and FD -, best choreos in terms of originality and authenticity of movement relating to music, all lifts, transitions between elements were truly portraying character of the dance, music, not just nice, thrown together moves executed properly
- Madison/Evan FD - grew on me as a whole dance, concept thorough all season, definitely an eye-catcher in terms of movement, and lifts are indeed fabulous in that dance
- Maia/Alex SD and FD - both choreos really presented them from their best perspective and personal one, too I feel. Love especially fresh, hip vibe of SD (best hip-hop moves in the field!)
- WeaPo FD - Worlds version are the ultimate diamond version, so little details added since 4CC!!!
- Natalia/Maksym 'Dirty Dancing' FD - okay, not exactly the top tier, but choreo well matched the music and theme and was executed with so much enthusiasm and energy!
- Aliona/Bruno SP and FS - my favourite set of programs, FS is a gem (and a keeper if you ask me!)

1. Yuzurus SP with the crazy step and choreo sequences, transitions and elements is most spectacular, cool and also underrated program of this season. Unfortunately we could not watch the clean version of it, but anyway it's mind blowing!
2. Shomas LP best LP of the season. I like this music, both part of it, love the way he's skating it. Gorgeous!
3. Sui/Hans SP. So charming and cool, makes you love it since first seconds!
