Top Prospects of Russian ladies

Hm, I guess that now that the protocols are out I'll mention that Ksenia Melkumova had her new PB for the free skate(the SP was a failure with 3 falls...) on the 30th of January with 21.81+31.50(-2.00)=51.31. The steps were only lvl 1 with +1 GOE though, I wonder what's wrong...

Jumps:

2F 0 GOE
1A+3T< -3 GOE(fall)
2A< -1 GOE
3T< -1 GOE
3S< -3 GOE(fall)
2Lz+2Lo< -2 to -3 GOE

I still think that this layout is insane. I assume the plan is to even upgrade the first 1A to a 2A for a 2A+3T combo because she currently only repeats one jump. Well, with that layout she would be a top contender for her age group even more than a year from now if she learns to rotate the jumps eventually. If...

3 out of her last 4 2As were marked as rotated, at least(The one in this FS is the only one that's UR).
 
I don't know if this was streamed or recorded anywhere but Uliana Vasilieva among others skated today. Protocol

Clean with the 2Lz+2Lo combo for 42.97 points, but this competition was a total overscore fest with many joke scores. In any case, I wonder when she's going to go up a category.

I realize this was overscored but just adding a second +2Lo as the combo and increasing the PCS factor to 2.00(How it'd be in jun. 1 category), her score with this PCS and GOE received would be 50.68 which is ridiculously high for the category. But of course, she's not expected to get anywhere near these scores due to the overscoring here. At least for PCS - her GOEs weren't even that high here.

On the competition where Vasilieva was - Something else that was interesting:

Polina Sazhina born in 2012 finished 19th in jun. 3 with 23.83 points but had the most difficult jump layout for the jun. 3 category(1A, 1A+1Lo, 1Lz) and got very high marks for interpretation(5th best). Very curious to see her to be honest... How impressive it is depends on when in 2012 she was born.
 
It's so heartbreaking to see Nastya Mukhortova in 2 sport category among those little kittens... I can only wonder how bad was her injury or sickness, that she missed more than one season after Juniors 2016. But what's interesting, despite regressing in jumps and a bit in spins, her skating became much better. Just a pure joy to watch it.

Thank you for these! I was looking forward to catching them but had to miss the start of the day, unfortunately.

Of these, Vovk is by far the best. She also is apparently taking part in about a dozen competitions over the next month or two, at least she's in just about every competition's list of participants. Very interesting to see how she develops.

But still, as good as she is, she is only 5 months older than Kostyleva is.


And that's a shame about her starting to cry. Maybe she got nervous? It could be that she doesn't have a whole lot of experience competing. She was looking a little off throughout the program. Hopefully she's alright and comes back strong.

I guess she had to do a jump, and she was scared to do it. Maybe she remembered how she fell recently at trainings or something. Hope that coaches will help her to understand that falls are the part of skating, and she shouldn't be afraid to do jumps just because she may fall on them.

That's the best 2A I've ever seen her land! And it might be the first 2A I've seen a 2009-born skater land, also? Also the 1A-3T was actually much better than the solo 3T! Quite surprising and good to see. This 3T wasn't even very far at all. Hopefully she can get there...

That step sequence again is just ridiculous. She had some struggles with it but it's in my opinion clearly more difficult than her competition step sequence. And you just generally don't see 8-year-olds showing anything close to this. Oh, and the spin was pretty nice too. It also was different from what she usually does - Good to see.

I believe she has the potential to work excellently with a large variety of different music.
 
The stream was stopped at the most interesting place, when all top 3 ladies were going to show their skills. :cry:

Polina Stepanova (2004) did pretty well, although no triple-triple combination, but two spins of hers got bonuses.

Saida Zakirova (2007) did a clean 3S and a 3S+2Lo combo. Other two girls in the top 3 did a stsq lvl 3.

Sabina Zagitova unfortunately was placed at the 20th.

Oh! Elements are done and Sabina is now in 15th after placing 10th in the SP!
