Top Prospects of Russian ladies

I looked at the list AFTER I put her on... :(
And here I thought I found a real talent for once...
Let's talk about her anyway! Protocol

She rotated these jumps fully and finished rotating well before landing for most of them. For a 6-year-old that's ridiculous. The rotation speed is already at almost Medvedeva triple jump level. Considering body type and all - Serious potential.

Then we can talk about skating like that - Well over 40 points had she not fallen - while not even being 7 years old. Is it not unprecedented?

Dzepka who is the most talented 7-year-old skater I can imagine was only in 3. jun category while 6 years and 10 months old, and only scored 25 points there. And even when Dzepka was 7 and a half years old she scored 34 points in jun. 2 category and hm, got lower PCS in all categories.

Margarita essentially got 40 points in jun. 1 category at 6 years and 10 months of age, with two 2-2 combos.

You know, the only thing they could even improve with her layout is adding a lutz jump and working on the first spin, I guess. And then she has it solved until sports 2 category.

Now, actually considering her improvement during this season only, how soon might that even be? And when might she be adding 2A or triple jumps? Those jumps are tiny as expected for a 6-year-old but the rotation's done so early there is plenty of room even with that jump height, so when she gains some more of it...

You know, I wasn't expecting her to do anywhere near this well already. She really was struggling with rotating the doubles just a while ago and now she does them with air time to spare. And I also don't think she's crazy overscored there. Sure, maybe the second combo should be -2 instead of -1 overall and maybe the first spin should be at 0 GOE. And the PCS ... Well, I'm not sure how overscored that is either. It's not like that's sky high and she has qualities. But even so, almost 40 points at jun. 1 category doing two 2-2 combos is insane!

What about rotation speed and height of the jumps, if we'll compare her with 7 yo Akatieva? [emoji848]

Also I'd like to mention again this kid, Maria Tsurkanova (12.10.2010). No double jumps yet, but pretty nice interpretation and moves. All elements with difficult entries and in the second half. Her 1Lz was so airy, I guess she's already practicing the double jump. One thing which bother me is her costume. It looks heavy, and not suit her well. Interesting thing, I mention her just once, but somehow already 190 views and 5 likes. Probably her parents, though.

Rotation speed's similar. It might be ever so slightly slower, not entirely sure. Height's quite a bit better.

Even most of those 2010-born jun. 2 girls struggle with jump height more. Hmm... Same height on flip as Berestovskaya +3Ts in jump combos or thereabouts.

Her skating's very impressive for sure. She just is at the sort of an age and level where I really would like to see how she does in jun. 2 with double jumps.

I guess that early on, some girls concentrate more on skating, some more on jumps or other elements. her skating for instance is quite a bit more advanced than Margarita's(though Margarita's basic skating still is very nice so I think she has potential there).

Sofia Kolbasenko (protocol) will skate at Sofia Trophy 2018 this February (06/02/2018 - 11/02/2018) in CHICKS I. GIRLS (1.7.2009 - 30.6.2010) category.

Interesting to see what she'll receive from international judges.

She somehow did an invalid spin, but her rotation speed is quite something! At first I was thinking it's just single jumps. Artistry level is also pretty charming! I wonder how she will skate with lyrical music.

Daria Eremina (2009) is also interesting girl. I noticed her because she was in the top 3 at every competition (at least last three, where she was 1st, 3rd, 3rd). Yeah, she was competing with younger girls (along with Kolbasenko), but still.

I liked her choreo sequence. Interesting element and cute little dance.

One more interesting channel. I'm glad to see so many live streams from different competitions. Even if those ladies are average or below, they're still better than 70% of those ladies who compete at JGP or Challenger Series.

I find it kind of special, some charm is hidden there. Just amazing.

Ksenia Melkumova protocols from January 26.

I really hope they know what they are doing. I still have some great difficulty understanding their decision making here. Who looks at her jumps and goes "Yeah, this girl absolutely should try and jump a 3T in a combo!"...? But well, first combo of SP no UR and neutral GOE, I guess that's progress. And no URs or falls on the 2As... Second one might even almost be passable considering it just got -1.

*Sigh*

On Prizes of Honored Coach Tshaikovskaya 30-31 Jan 2018, Moscow

2nd place finisher in SP, Kamila Valieva, still in a hole, not only jumps have regressed, but overall skating as well. I think she's about to lose another star, puremagic (and Kanysheva, Vasilieva and Sinitsina to add one for decent outcomes at junior nats).
SP winner, Sultanmahomedova, despite decent 4 point gap not very impressing as well.

2005-2006 hole looks real. :confused2:

Also, Anna Shcherbakova's status is not unknown anymore.
I won't comment on her ranking though, because I can't be objective here. :hopelessness:

Sultanmahomedova does 3Lz+3T, 2A+1Lo+3S. Quite good I would say for 2005...
And I think we all should remember that Zagitova was nowhere near most people's radar when she was 12 :)

Of the 05-06s, I think the one with the most potential would still theoretically be Anfisa Ryabova. The jumps are a total disaster but she can actually skate, something I cannot say for any of the other top prospects for the age group, Valieva included. Ryabova is the only one who could potentially become a top skater who also receives very high PCS. I don't know what that would take, though. I guess only Eteri magic could help her because the jumps are in such a sad state. It's hard to be in anyone's radar when you fall 4 or so times per competition. But it would be a shame if the top skaters for the age group would just be "okay" skaters whose only redeeming quality is that they don't fall on their jumps. Therefore I'd like to see the ones who have potential to be more than that to be given the attention they need.

Sultanmahomedova or whatever example you want to name on the other hand is a completely unremarkable, slow skater who in a landscape where we assume everyone to be skating clean programs, just doesn't stand out at all.

I was just rewatching JGPF 2013, before I saw Sultanmagomedova's scores. And someone says about Moscow's underscoring, while for weak skating and low TES you get 28.75 PCS, and 63 points overall, being not even in juniors category. What a joke!

Agreed about Valieva, she's joining to Mukhortova's club. Sad. Although I hope Mukhortova will surprise me one day, because if we talk about skating itself, she was much better now, at her last competition, than before at Juniors 2016.

I rewatched many girls from 05-06, and finally I see a super star potential in this young lady. I noticed beautiful coach Anna Tsareva at the end of the program, she was kindly smiling when Daria fell at her spin. Such an enjoyble and beautiful step sequence, amazing flow and speed during it, and very nice solid jumps.

So, ms. Panova now has two very talented girls: Daria Usacheva and Maya Khromykh. They both can be Pogorilaya #2 without back issues and psyhological problems, but Usacheva might be even better.

Would be cool if Eteri will take Daria to her group, although Usacheva already has competition at the trainings with Maya, and Tsareva teachs her skaters pretty well; here's step sequence of Pogorilaya's SP 2016, for me it was the best stsq of the year, just sensational!

whenever I see that step sequence I can't concentrate on anything but that god-awful dress
Maya Kromykh also has an ugly SP dress this year
are her and Daria with Panova or Tsareva?
I hope Daria goes to Eteri :)

Today's skate by Maria Dmitrieva

You have to hand it to her. It always is impressive when a 10-year-old lands 7 backloaded triple jumps. Especially when those 7 triples had 2 Lutz and 2 Flip. Although, the +3T was definitely a two-foot landing(that somehow got +1, +2 GOE).

Still, both of her SP and FS music choices are horrible and outside of the jumps there's not a whole lot there to be excited about. Perhaps next season with better programs she can make significant leaps.

Maya Kromykh's figure and way of jumping give me Eunsoo Lim vibes. :)

I really like the way Maria Dmitrieva moves, spins and jumps (height and rotation speed). :gclap:
That music is unbearable though. For me and probably for skater as well. :rolleye:

EDIT: Have just watched her SP and it's even worse: classical music going into disco, then techno. I wanna unhear it. :slink:
