Turin or Torino?

IIRC Turin is calledTorino just as Italy is called Italia usually by the locals.

Yes, they are the same place. I believe Torino is what Italians call the city, and therefore the official name of the Olympic Games (Torino 2006). But the English way of pronouncing the name is "Turin".

Thanks red dog-it was beginning to confuse me and I didn't know what to call it:)

It's an Italian town and the name is theirs. Torino! (Turin is the English translation.)

Similarly it's Fiorenze which was turned into Florence by translation.

There are so many European towns which in their native tongues are not the same as they appear in English. Muenchen and Munich, for example.
