(Videos) New Season and New Programs!

BTW I'm officially in for the men's discipline, with Takahashi, Lambiel, Joubert, Verner, hopefully Yagudin, this is going to be a hell of a competition!!
Agree! Agree! The Ladies discipline have the 3 from Tokyo Worlds with Meissner hanging in there.

The Men, on the other hand, have the 3 from Tokyo Worlds with so many other male competitors hanging in there. Buttle, Weir, Lysacek, Verner, Oda and who else? The quad, ofcourse, will be one of the deciding factors.

Here is Daisuke Takahashi's new SP "Cyber Swan"

I really like that music, who is the artist?????

I have nothing really to say about his LP on the other hand. It is blah. Phantom was a materpeice, but romeo and juliet just looks like everybody else. I don't see the chrachter, like i did with the phantom. The outfit is bad. The music isn't cut well.

Daisuke Takahashi SP is very similar (not the same) to Arakawa Swan Lake SP a few years back. I like it.

Domnina & Shabalin OD

I enjoyed it, it's really fun. Great to see Maxim skating so well so soon after his surgery. I really like that last lift.:agree:

This was obviously a bit of a show situation, what with the rinkside bursts of fire and all, but if this is their new competitive OD, I really hope those aren't their real costumes.

I was so distracted by the bulky hideousness of them that I couldn't even really watch the dance itself. I don't think it does any favours to this team either. It makes them look more sloppy and slow than they actually are. Matching line? Who can tell?!? His especially is just .... terrible, what with the long coat and shiny fake boots, but her skirt really doesn't help things.

Have to wait and see what this actually looks like in competition.

Despite the technical boo boos, Susanna skated a beautiful routine to a well choreographed program. Should not her PCS' sector for choreograpy be scored high or does she need the tech scores (3x3s) first to reflect a high choreograpy score?

I'm just looking at one sector of the program but others will say the choreography is simple without the high level jumps.

What do you think?

I think she needs 3x3s. Susanna got PCS 6.75 for choreo, which is quite high but the competition was in Finland.

Positive news is that she plans to put 3flip-3toe to both sp and lp in Skate Canada. I am not sure if she ccan make it but...

Well, I think if choreography is based on high tech then so be it, but to me, they are two different aspects of figure skating.

I think the ladies' situation will be improved next year, when Caroline Zhang, Mirai Nagasu, and Rachael Flatt will finally be eligible to compete at Worlds.

This IS the same program given to Arakawa (which Morosov choreographed). It's just another example of Morosov's constant rehashing of his own choreography (and that of others). He gives the same program to every skater.

This program is really too dull to watch, because I've seen it before so many times (skated by so many skaters).

As usual, there's a lot of arm flailing in that program but at least this time it goes with the theme (Russian folk dance). Plus, Domnina/Shabalin have upgraded their footwork so that the arm flailing is not as much of a cover up as it was last season.

I think that this team is on the road to becoming the next "big" russian team, but thier skating is just was too "busy" for me to appreciate. No clean lines and extensions, everything is too fast and wild and rushed. It goes well with the russian folk music, and the costumes don't even look like ice dancing costumes (i guess that's a good thing) but I still take Dubriel and Lazon any day.
