Personally, I never find her to be "lacking" in artistry as what the general skating fans' consensus about her skating seem to conclude. She just strike me off as someone who has yet to mature artistically, could be the result of focusing on her jumps/technique first. She is like what? 15, 16? A bit early to judge one's artistry when s/he is still so young. It is kind of unfair if just because someone has strong jumps or technique, s/he is immediately labeled as a technical skater who is inartistic.
One of her weakness, i think, is her flexibility though. Her spiral is not really pretty. Though it is not a required element it would be great to see her improve on that. She also could improve on her musicality too.

I don't think she's planning on including the 3A in any programs yet. There hasn't been any videos posted, and I remember her saying that it was still a quarter of a rotation short (it was an interview probably about a year ago, so I guess things could've changed).

Also she's 15, so as she transitions into a senior, I think it's a given that her artistry will also improve, as she has more mature music and choreography.
 
In my opinion, if Wakaba were to be the "star" of the Japanese ladies, she has to be really consistent. With an upgrade in programs/layout, hopefully she can still show the consistency she had as a junior (besides the performances where she was injured).

That can be applied to Marin as well when we talk about consistency. I think both Marin and Wakaba have a star quality. Marin is more like a princess-type while Wakaba's huge jumps and attacks are noteworthy. It is a pity that Wakaba's presentation is a bit underappreciated because of previously the bad choreography and backloading although she has nice SS and a good sense of musicality. It would be interesting to watch the skaters grow though.

She did mentioned she was going to include in her programs, thought she didnt say which. I assume it would be her fs, seeing as her sp layout didn't have one

So she will include it solar (hopefully successfully this season without any injuries, seeing as that was her plan last season but didn't carry it our, I assume bcuz of the injury earlier that caused a setback in her plans)

She could very easily include the 3A in her SP without much changes - that's actually the first thing I thought when I saw her doing the 2A first in the SP. Maybe she will leave that possibility open, depending on how her progress with the jump is throughout the season.

Wakaba has really ambitious technical skills, she just needs more musicality and improve her finesse. Her skating skills is already okay.
I'm sure we will see a 3A from her in the future, she gets good heights on her axels even higher than Tuktas.

about this, I disagree, I think Wakababy is one of the most musical among current crop of skaters around her age. She may need finesse, or more stretch etc. But musicality, she is blessed. Also, Wakababy is quite diverse in terms of her interpretation range.

Hopefully she goes for it if she's ready then! I can see possibilities with her including it in her programs, especially the SP with the 2A planned first. Her injury last season probably slowed down her 3A progress but I'm looking forward to updates about it

Ooohhh if I'm not wrong, shouldn't Wakaba be skating her sp later today? Omg so excited, I really have been waiting so long to see her skate again (the last time was DOI and that was way too long ago)
 
Wakaba will be showing her short program tonight at around 18:50-20:30pm in Japan at the Tokyo local competition. So I estimate about 4:50am ET, 1:50am PT, 26th August. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The senior ladies comp, which includes Yuka Nagai, starts at 18:50pm.
She could, and should win this, but Nagai could pull up a fight.

weird ... so low. The only explanation is that she got edge call on flip and lost levels on spins & stsq.:confused2:

Let's wait when protocols and videos will be out, I hope no more flip problems this year...
Even if it was edge call 60.89 is way stingy for such back-loaded layout .......
