I don't think I have seen a more charismatic lady than Wakaba at this World Championships. She is just incredible to watch live. I think she is most unique Japanese lady skater right now.
Her SP score was really scandalous, 6.50, and 6.75 for IE?! :noshake:

She's a stand-out for sure... beautiful edges, speed and skating skills, powerful and secure jumps (when she lands them, obviously
), very nuanced and musical performance... and she was the youngest competitor! I don't think anyone could have guessed that from her skating. I would even call her the most overall talented lady I saw at worlds. That doesn't always translate into the most success, but she has everything it takes to force those judges to give her the marks. And if it takes a 3A :shock2:

I'll be updating the front with Wakaba's Worlds results soon. I'm proud of her for performing well at her first worlds, even with the mistakes in the FS. I hope she keeps growing next season, and I'd be thrilled to see a 3A soon!

I hope you do! She doesn't disappoint in person at all! Which makes her scores even more questionable....

The scoring isn't something I'll attempt to explain. The only weapon I can think of is packaging. She will need amazing programs to upend the judges' expectations. She pulled off Scheherazade, but imo she still needs something more special and unique. A signature piece like Satoko's Planets/Leia LP.

I really want Wakaba to win everything next season with this 3A, and those who are counting her out and calling her "DOA," "journey woman" can have a lot of eggs on their faces. (No jinx.)

Wow! So the land of Midori Ito and Mao Asada has given us another lady willing to "challenge" the triple axel in senior competition. I hope Wakaba gets to perform the triple axel consistently this upcoming season and integrate it seamlessly in her program/s. All the best to her

Wow nice 3A! it like in between Midori Ito and Mao Asada, it didnt have the height Midori 3A have but it's more clean than Mao 3A imo. i hope she try it next season and consistent in landing it!
