Wakaba Higuchi

Can't wait for Lombardia Trophy, these articles get me extremely curious about her programs :drama:

I feel so trolled that we got to see so little of her programs so far tbh. Can't they show more sympathy for the impatient? :drama:

Here's a slightly longer clip of her FS sneak peek: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjfq6kH7s3o

Don't know why, but when Wakaba announced 'Skyfall' as her program music, I thought it was the theme song that Adele sings  Turns out, it's the soundtrack, which I'm even more excited about! Although an Adele-Skyfall program would be interesting as well.

I can't wait either... I decided to go there! Despite the freakishly expensive tickets, and lack of seats (just cold hard concrete steps).

So many skaters will be there that are among my favourites, or that I simply find "interesting"... but Wakaba was my #1 reason for going...

I was just flicking through a Japanese mook, "Figure Skating Team Japan 2017", and it looks like there is a new series of "Kenji no heya" TV show starting 5th September, running through to October (JSports4 channel).

This is the show with Kenji Miyamoto the Japanese choreographer, interviewing Japanese skaters. And Wakaba will appear in one of the September shows.

Hopefully some kind soul will upload it to youtube or dailymotion, for those who don't have access to Japanese TV...

Save travels and a great trip to Bergamo! I'm sure Wakaba will make the trip be worth it

Lucky you! There is quite an exciting line up there! So jealous! Dare I ask, will you have your "trusty" camera with you?! (Sorry, I'm greedy! )

Wakaba was featured on "Figure Skate TV!" on Japanese BS Fuji channel a couple of days ago.
The whole show was uploaded by a kind and regular poster on dailymotion, and Wakaba's part starts at about 30:12

It shows Wakaba working on her James Bond program with Shae Lynn Bourne. I'm really impressed. I think this is a great program, it suits Wakaba, her expression and interpretation are excellent, and she is "making it her own". Even in practice, I feel the passion and emotion in her performance. I can't wait to see it in full at Lombardia next week...!

I don't understand Japanese media bringing up Yuna Kim's James Bond program every time Wakaba's program comes up though. It's different music... completely different choreography, skater and styles of skating... the current skating "landscape" is nothing like it was 4 years ago... etc etc. The connection is so tenuous as to be non-existent, and I don't think making comparisons are valid or constructive :-/

I LOVE the stsq performance in training costume, Wakababy is so fearless. I mean literally "fearless". there are so many whole body lean back moves, I feel scared about my own back of head even by looking and thinking about it:biggrin:

Wow, major goosebumps. Thanks for the link, what a treat.

"You're a spy, but you're also human." I'll have to use this line in real life conversations. Just need to figure out how... :scratch2:

YesWay, not to make you feel old but it's 8 years ago, not 4... :slink:

Just like they bring up Mao Asada's Madama Butterfly when they talk about Satoko's program and Shizuka Arakawa's Turandot when they talk about Marin's program.

Wow :dbana:
The choreo is amazing from what we see, it's "busy" but everything has meaning and purpose, Wakaba just flies across the ice and really owns the music. That backwards spiral right on the music. This will be an unbelievable goosebumps moment when she really delivers.
And now it's only 4 days left until Lombardia. Well, more 3,5 days, or 85,5h until the ladies SP starts :dbana: *sets countdown*

PS: JMedia needs to be shut up, as always. Ugh.

Brace yourself - the Korean media will probably do the same if Wakaba makes a big splash this season, especially if she goes to the Olympics.

In all seriousness though, I agree with you. I hope the media and fans can stop blabbering about how someone's using a famous skater's music.

That's the thing though - it's not even the same music...! O_o

I will always be lowkey unimpressed with the Japanese media to be honest.:sarcasm: I LOVE the bits of Wakaba's program we've been shown. That step sequence is goosebumps inducing. I've always loved steps with tons of full body movements. Making me dread Japanese nationals even more..:drama:
