Wakaba Higuchi | Page 42 | Golden Skate

Wakaba Higuchi

One great thing about going to this year's Lombardia Trophy... it's a fairly low-key and relaxed venue, and there were no overwhelming crowds... so it was very easy to meet with the skaters when they chose to "mingle".

Lots of them came and sat with the spectators to watch their team-mates, and/or their friendly rivals... eg. Wakaba and Yura came to watch Hiroaki...

This trip...

was so...

worth it!

I think i've already seen this specific picture somewhere...
This specific photo? Seems unlikely, unless someone has already lifted it from my site (Not that I mind, happens all the time - but I'd be interested to know where you think you saw it...)

It's more likely, that someone else simply took a very similar photo while Wakaba and Yura were sitting among the audience - I certainly wasn't the only one who asked to take their photo, by any means! Wakaba is POPULAR!

The guy who was with me has basically taken the same photo with the same hand gestures from both atletes and even the same angle. I don't have that photo (yet), but i remember i saw it in his bridge camera lcd screen.
Since they were at the top corner of the seats, and there was just one angle to take the picture, and the girls tends to do the same thing when someone is asking for a photo, i think it can be just a coincidence.

I love both of Wakaba's programs this year. They suit her so well. The FS especially, I hope she can take this momentum and run with it.

Some more really gorgeous pictures here.

The first photo has killed me already. Really nice expression there. Yes, yes, shoot me.

This program is stunning, she can definitely go far with this program. That layback spin ugh!!!!! :drama:

Huge fan of Wakaba's both programs this year, they fit her perfectly. Kudos to Scalli and Shae Lynn they did amazing job. Congratulations Wakababy for great debut!!

The first photo!!!
may become Signature photo for the program!!!
I meaning the first photo in the list, the lay-over spiral photo,:sad21:
the shoot bullet photo of course is another fabulous capture (fab expression, perfect moment) and it is more commercial and recognizable as well.
But my pick and heart goes to this one:

I am still a but skeptical about her layout... will she remains consistent the whole season with this layout?

For the FS I think it's fine. She can always do 2A-3T in the second half if the two 3-3 are too much (it would get more points as well, so I hope she'll do that). I just wish she did the loop instead of the flip in the SP. She has a great loop and her flip can be problematic (edge calls, not that consistent)

just want to congratulate Wakaba for the silver medal at Lombardia and thank her for an amazing experience and emotions she gave out to the people by her performances - not only both programs are for me the perfect fit for her, but they seem to bring out her qualities out and challenge her even more to become better, especially in terms of presentation/interpretation/expression. Really dazzled by her looks for both programs - for me definitely one of the 'best dressed' female skaters now. While SP was vivid and palpable with joy, which I was able to feel, her FS was seductive, powerful and sensual.

Hope she will have a great season

Can I just say I love the part of her FS where she does a little walk (here: https://youtu.be/VpPPJLV-i7s?t=1m39s). It's really badass, reminds me of the Hanyu walk in Seimei :drama:

that is a key point of that program, needs to handled extremely well, then it will become a highlight (like THE walk in Yuzuru's Seimei), and a front view cam angle would be even better.
for now, Wakababy still need some simmering of that move.

Looks like "Kenji no Heya" featuring Wakaba, was broadcast last night in Japan (JSports4, 22:00 local time, 30 minutes long)

Hopefully somebody will upload to dailymotion or youtube.

(We will watch it via fujitv.live but that's a subscription service)

PS.
There is info, transcript of the interview, and photos on JSports web site HERE (all in Japanese though). Seems show is only one half of the interview? Part 2 next week?

This! Really excited to have seen her do so well.

I've uploaded some of my photos of Wakaba from Lombardia Trophy HERE

How stupid was I, to NOT think of asking Wakaba to do her 007 "pistol shot" pose at my camera, when I had the chance? DOH

PS.
