Wakaba Higuchi

I wish Wakaba to have the FS of a lifetime tomorrow. She really deserves to go to the OG in my opinion

I hope so too. She'll really need a clean FS to state her case; otherwise she's met 5 out of the 6 selection requirements already

Come on Wakaba. Watch the sky fall but don’t crumble. Shoot the FS and make it impossible for JSF to deny you your right to be in Pyeongchang. You can do it. May you get some of Satoko’s nerves!

I wonder why Wakaba had a level 3 on his step sequence?

I hope that even if she will not do the olypique team we will see her because her style of skating is unique to her and then it is nice to see her smile at kiss and cry although she was disappointed.
I do not know if she can go up two places and mounted on the podium but a part of me hopes and knows that she is able.

go wakaba watch which is the strongest

https://twitter.com/eRika_1213/status/943900887604326400 Evgenia sent Wakaba flowers to wish her goot luck at Nats! Let's hope they bring her luck in the FS :)

Omg that is quite possibly the most precious thing I've heard all week. I love their friendship!!! So nice of Zhenya to be so supportive even when she herself is going through such a tough time. Looks like she really wants to face Wakababy at the Olympics!

Ah, this competition is killing me, I love so many ladies! That said, I think if Wakaba skates to her potential, she'll be an Olympian, period. Here's to hoping she skates her very best! Our Bond girl must go to the Games!

Great FS by Wakaba today... but that cursed salchow kept her off the podium. She is still top 3 among seniors though!

And she can still be chosen for the Olympic team: she meets 4/5 of JSF's criteria for 2nd pick, which is more than anyone else. (Could have been 5/5 if only she hadn't popped the sal -_-) Kaori is 3/5 but is riding the wave of success, fresh in the JSF's mind...

We'll find out tomorrow, if triumph for Wakaba... or tragedy...

This is the first time in 3 years that wakaba Higuchi will not be on the podium is a tear I wanted to cry with her and comfort her when she understood that she will not be at the Olympics. come back stronger in four years and I hope her will motivate her to change coaches.
on the son of the competition there are full of bad message against her I do not find her to justify all the more that she did her best with an injury. and I think that the fact that she is not correctly to score in his scores to affect his confidence.

I really don't like how everyone is labelling Wakaba as "unstable" and "unreliable" because of one popped jumped (and that jump happens to be a 3S!). The fact that she delivered against the toughest competitors in the world (Medvedeva, Zagitova, etc) with two perfect skates is reason enough to put faith in her.

yes and it's always the same who criticizes it. I find it irreproachable for her and the skaters.

she is young I think her will make her stronger but unfortunately her problems are not technical but it is her mind that is problematic. I do not have what she said in interview but it sembmait sad

The Olympic team will be announced tomorrow after the men's FS. Despite the result, I'll always root for Wakaba :cheer: This was probably not the nationals result she wanted, but this season has been pretty good for her so far!

Also, she is such a perfectonist, it's so sad that even one single error can rattle her so much. Though to be honest, I'm sure any other Japanese senior lady (besides Satoko and maybe Kaori) would kill to be in her position right now.

She needs to remember that and not loose the optimism and fighting spirit!!

yes to be honest I was afraid that she is planning to retire although she is only 16 years old which is too young for a retiree but that said it last interview reassured me (eugene translated it on the son of the competition)

I will continue to encourage her and pray that she will recover from her injury. In 2022 she will be 21 years old, which is not so old.

I read elsewhere that Wakaba was injured before the FS, do we know the exact nature of her injury and how serious it might be? I hope she's ok!

After a lot of thought about it, I think I'm rooting for Wakaba over Kaori. I'm just more convinced by her season, and while I love Amelie, I am enamored of both Bond AND Gypsie Dance. It breaks my heart to pick between these two talented wonderful skaters who I love so much, but I'll be crossing my fingers for Wakaba tomorrow.

But no matter how the decision goes, I am happy that Wakaba has given us lovely skates across this season, and that she will likely have a long fruitful career ahead of her. I often forget she's just 16! I have a feeling we'll be seeing her 100% in for Beijing 2022.
