Wakaba Higuchi

she is still underrated compared to others but it does not matter, come back stronger wakaba.

her Sp is such a joy a real gypsy on the ice, I must say that yesterday when reading that she had a problem with her lutz her had worried me but she delivered, it's just the judges who are ashamed.

Wakababy's SP performance is the BEST outing I have ever seen from her this season.
Every outing Wakababy's performance is improved in visible areas.

Also besides me , Wakababy earned unanimous applause from Chinese figure skating fans again, Her SP post is the most retweeted program of ALL GPF programs so far, Far far out-numbered other ladies' SP programs.

I hope Wakaba's international fans, Japanese fans, Japanese Fed and ISU know that, maybe the judges are blind, but people are NOT blind, Wakababy and his programs these season are wildly loved and supported by figure skating fans.

it proves that the judges only see what they want . it makes me hate this sport at a time.

but noting is lost , there remains the FS tomorow.

Wakaba as some pointed out must change at all cost her its composition of the program and brought a 3Lo

I've liked Wakaba for a long time and she's also been my favorite Japanese lady for quite a while but she really has managed to get to the next level this season. It just is unfortunate that the judges don't seem to be rewarding her for this, or at the very least she needs to work much harder than many others in order to get rewarded. That PCS drop in the superior FS in her second GP was a very good example for this - For many other skaters that'd have been a great excuse to increase the PCS by a point or two.

One thing though, I feel like Wakaba is making the same silly mistake Gold was making. Flip is her weaker jump, so please just do 3Lo instead and do only a single Flip in the FS.

Posted this in the thread, but I'm always puzzled about why Wakaba isn't benefitting from higher scores due to her consistency this season :confused2: It seems like other skaters are enjoying a meteoric rise in their PCS especially, and their scores have been gradually rising even w/o clean programs. But besides the scoring, Wakaba performed amazing at her first GPF! I'm so glad she's consistently skating well, and I'm so excited to see her Bond program again in the free :cheer:

I'm also confused her program and jumps are soooooooo good! I think the JP federation want Satton to be the leading Japanese lady and are trying to hold back Waka so that's possible :sad21:.
p.s. Satoko's my fav skater so that wasn't supposed to be a bash at her in any way:)

Wakaba arguably being #2 in Japan might be hurting her scores, but if that's the case why can't there just be two leading ladies from one nation? Both Satoko and Wakaba are brilliant in their own unique ways and neither need to be held back :confused2:

i agree. russia pushs both evgenia and alina in ladies and TM and SK in pairs. why not the japanese?

I completely agree and don't understand either  But we all know Wakaba performed amazingly today so I'm going to concentrate on that rather than how the judges don't seem to be able to see that :)

It's so frustrating being a Higuchi fan. She has the two most engaging and beautiful programs this season and some of the best interpretation. There is just so much power behind the movements, the jumps, it's great to watch. And then she just gets consistently downplayed =(

I'm probably just projecting emotions onto her as fan, but when I saw https://youtu.be/QGbGWqIV8Po?t=5m50s I couldn't help but think she realized she was being screwed too, she just looked like she was trying to put on a fake smile but couldn't do it (especially when compared to her joy at CoC for a much lower score)

I wanted to say that I'm absolutely loving Wakaba this season. The short is energetic & exuberant and I just adore the free program - so fierce!

Good luck in the free, Wakaba!:)

I'm so excited for Wakabond tonight :yahoo: Regardless of scores, I'm hoping for a fun and fiesty performance!

Wakaba's got support from around the world! Here's a banner of support from Russia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Poland!

she skates in 3 e just after Carolina and Maria it says a lot, it sadness to kiss and cry my heart melted but hey she to prove that she is a fighter.
she has a lot of support even on tweeteur, I'm glad maybe she is not liking judges so she has little chance to do the podium but at least she has a lot of recognition, we believe in her talent, I I am sure she is able to correct her mistakes and prove that they are wrong with the under noted.
: luv17:

what a shame wakaba I'm sad now she will not be able to do the jO:bang:
but I must say that I am not surprised. she did the same performance as nhk I wonder if it's the fact that there was Satoko? I like both.

Something was off with Wakaba's performance, definitely her weakest of the season. I'm not quite sure what it was, since she's usually not one to crumble under pressure. Maybe it was fatigue or just an off day? I'm sure she'll recoup and get into great shape for Nationals. This wasn't a terrible GP debut, and I'm proud of her for qualifying :)

It's an off day for Wakaba. It's okay. Let the disappointment make you stronger!

I have no doubt she'll do just that! When she barely missed the JGPF in 2015 she turned all her disappointment into motivation to perform well at Nats and she got silver :cheer:
