What are you listening to right now?

Not to take anything away from GB but I love RB and MO butchered Back For Good!
https://youtu.be/wqB_As99j4Q

That is priceless! Absolutely hilarious!

But, in the interests of balance, here is Gary singing it on his own:

Gary Barlow - "Back For Good" (2014 performance on The Late Late Show)

That performance was ropey enough in places!

Let's try four of the boys instead:

Take That - "Back For Good" (1995 Earl's Court concert)

Those costumes! :drama:

Nah, it's best with all the boys, isn't it?!

Sorry, but much as I liked Atomic Kitten, you can't beat Blondie when it comes to that song:

Blondie - "The Tide Is High"

When I think of Atomic Kitten, it is always this song that I reminisce about:

Atomic Kitten - "Whole Again"

Although, strictly speaking, it is out of the age range of the conversation, as it was released in Y2K. And "The Tide Is High" was later, in 2002!

But maybe that's a good thing. There's getting too much 90's nostalgia in this thread than is good for your health!

Don't blame the poor baby... blame the hubby! :agree:

(As a bloke, I cannot believe I just said that! :drama: )

And congratulations on your new arrival! :cheer:   :party2: :hb:

My favorite angsty singer who decided to do a theatrical video for a more upbeat sounding song which she still managed to make wildly depressing. That's why I love her ;)

Fiona Apple : Paperbag

A couple of songs from Bahar Kızıl, one of the members of Monrose (the most successful group to be created by the German version of Popstars).

I LOVED Monrose! :cheer: But, they went their separate ways 5 years ago.

As you will probably guess from her name, Bahar is from a Turkish family.

This is the first time I've heard her singing in Turkish.

Bahar Kızıl - "Iyilesiyorum"

Bahar Kızıl - "Sor"

Just beautiful.

http://withinthewires.libsyn.com/ " This story is told as a series of relaxation tapes prepared for a patient in a mysterious medical center known as "The Institute". As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the narrator of the tapes has a connection to the patient, and may have a secret agenda. " Anxiously waiting for season 2!

Oooohh a podcast! I already have way too many podcasts I need to listen to. But that one sounds really interesting, loopy.

Maggie Roche, one of the single best songwriters of the second half of the 20th century, died this past week from cancer. I've been spending the last few days listening to The Roches albums. Do yourself a favor, and get their first self-title album and Keep On Doing from 1982.

Found this on YouTube, a very early concert before they released their debut album as a trio. The harmonies are to die for, the songs are quirky and memorable (they do Handel's Hallelujah Chorus as a trio! Acapella!).

Maggie will be sorely sorely missed.

I am listening to Shingo2, a Japanese rapper (Mr. stella luna has eclectic musical taste). I made sure to include a full sentence in my reply, because I have discovered my one-word replies in posts like the word association threads don't get credit as full posts. :disapp:

I am not far from tripping over the podium. My weak ankles have held me back, but I will get there.

I apologize for the digression. :slink:

CAVE ME IN

Collaboration of Gallant a U.S. based artist with Tablo, of Korean hip-hop group Epik High, and Eric Nam, a Korean-American who has been in K-Pop scene for a few years. It took me a minute to realize why I recognized Gallant's name. He's obviously been an indie darling, won a Grammy and played in Coachella, but what I know him for....doing a Drake cover with Sufjan Stevens (and Gallent also did a cover of one of Sufjan Stevens songs)

All my worlds are COLLIDING!!!

ETA: The most unexpected thing is to hear Eric Nam do some soulful R&B. It sounds really good. In Korea, Eric Nam does a lot of up-beat and downright cute stuff (it's K-pop, after all), so this is a nice and different departure.

I am familiar with the Roches, thanks to a college friend. Gorgeous harmonies. Such a terrible loss! :sad4:
