No, this is not about the movie - it's Earth Hour officially at 8:00 pm tonight. The craze started in Sydney Australia last year and will be practiced globally this year. Is anyone here at Golden Skate going to dip their lights for one hour tonight?

No. But I figure I save lots of energy, and I.Q. points, by never watching television. That's my contribution.

We did. We also watched the Leafs/Canadiens game, but Dr. David Suzuki came on before it and gave Canada permission to watch the game as long as our lights were out.

Hey!! It's the second to last weekend before the Stanley Cup Playoffs and there's still an awful lot of teams to shake down to see which team ends up playing which. Like this country wouldn't shut off the lights but keep the hockey game on.

My Dad had to go to the bathroom halfway through the hour. I teased him as he went past me to make sure he didn't miss the toilet. I got a swipe to the head for that one..

nope... too busy hanging out with friends at their house... I haven't seen them in forever and I felt that was a bit more important.

I did it - took the bumblepup for a walk that I thought would last until 8:30, but it was raining hard so we got home right after 8pm. I have a lot of candles, so it was fairly light in my house, but it wasn't light enough to read. Mostly I noticed how slowly time went by. I called a friend for a while but we disconnected at about 8:45 and the next 15 minutes seemed to last forever

I thought it was an interesting experience, and I'd like to see more people in the US embrace it. I passed a couple of apartments where I could see people lighting candles on my way home, but for the most part it was lights on as usual.

I didn't even know it was happening until after the fact.

I was in my car coming back from Saturday bootcamp at the Culinary Institute of America. Part of that hour I was in a massage chair at the mall - my shoulder's been bothering me a lot.

It wasn't well advertised, which I think is a big reason why more didn't participate... we might have had we had time to plan it in

but some jobs require lighting, so it's just not possible for everyone. (not should it ever be required)

We turned out all the lights except a little lamp to do the crossword puzzle by. Fell asleep before time to turn them back on, so we saved a bundle of energy.

I read about in the newspaper the very day, the Swedish King would dip the light for the palace  I was thinking about it but later in the evening I began to booting an old computer and simply forgot about it :/ So I was quite bad, running several computers at the same time...

I started cooking dinner around 8:00 pm so had my stove and microwave blasting. I also had the lights on in the kitchen - difficult to cook in the dark. Since I am accident prone, I did not want to injur myself. Hubby and I ate in the dark though....
