Currently, here is the entries for the 2012 Grand Prix of Figure Skating :

Ladies: http://isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=3502
Pairs: http://isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=3504
Ice Dance: http://isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=3528

* You can select the skaters of any country. I think that the important thing in this thread would be to see which skater, we would like to see getting an international competition. Because we believe that they deserve it for any reason :)

Here are the skaters that I would like to see getting a GP assignment :

Ladies : Kerstin Frank (Austria)
Cynthia Phaneuf (Canada)
Min Jeong Kwak (South Korea)
Candice Didier (France)
Elena Glebova (Estonia)
Joelle Forte (USA)

Men: Christopher Caluza (Philippines)
Jeremy Ten (Canada)

So, Which skater would you like to see getting a GP assignment ? :)

Hurtado/Diaz. They had one last year and I'd love to see them get another this season.

Elladj Balde and Jeremy Ten would be nice, too.

Sorry to bother, but just a quick question.
Why doesn't Jeremy Ten have an assignment?
I thought members of the national team got an assignment and he finished third.
Same with Balde (Except with fourth).
Better yet, why did Rogozine get one?
But to answer the thread:

Jeremy Ten
Armin Mahbanoozendeh
Chris Caluza

Cynthia Phaneuf (Canada):)
Jeremy Ten (Canada):)
Min Jeong Kwak (South Korea):)

There are 3 open dance slots, and I'd like to see Ralph & Hill get a second slot, Chock & Bates get a second slot, and Zlobina & Sitnikov get a second slot. If someone cancels, I'd like to see Paul & Islam get one, or Hurtado & Diaz.

I like to see teams be able to start the season with a chance at making the GPF!

I think it is better for teams like P&I, and for that matter Hurtado & Diaz, to go to a Senior B & win. I don't think it does them that much good, to go to a GP and finish last, other than it qualifies them to go to Worlds, if they skate an adequate score.

It's only my selfish self who would like to see them.

I'm hoping IN will carry the Senior B from Salt Lake this year, BTW. I'd recommend P&I to compete there.

But to answer the thread:

GP spots are decided by season best score. After all the guaranteeds have their one/two spots, the federations chose based on the season's best. Balde and Ten were 91st and 78th on the season best list, which was too low. One or hte other can still get Skate Canada, which has an open spot.

I think he's staying in junior circuit one more season which I think is constructive in the big picture. He's got a real good chance to make top six in Sochi, and on the podium, perhaps on the top, in Pyeongchang.

BTW, where did Armin place this years' Nationals? I though he'd get at least one entry for GP.

Samuel Contesti (ITA) has decided to retire (he is 29). That means there are two open spots: COC and TEB.

Adrian Schultheiss!

He had his last season ruined by injuries/back surgery and a not so happy season before that. A GP spot would be a great way for him to come back, competing with the best. I'm curious about his new programs choreographed by Irina Romanova(SP) and Salome Brunner(FP). I so want Adrian to be successful again and make it to Sochi :)

Sad to hear about Contesti. He brought a lot of joy in the men's competitions for me.

Contesti is a crowd pleaser and I'm sure he will enjoy a show skating career.

I feel bad for Han Yan as he was presumably promised an oversea trip for choreography and he was hoping for Patrick's choreographer (Nichol). Chinese fans are upset about his being kept at Junior. Who do you think has a better chance of placing top 10 at Worlds 2013 to secure two spots for China for Sochi, Nan Song or Han Yan?

Men:
Misha Ge
Armin M.
Christopher Caluza
Jeremy Ten

Ladies:
Minjeong Kwak
Elena Glebova
Gerli Liiname
Joelle Forte

Monica/Guarise

Don't really watch ice dance but wished K/G-S got 2 assignments

Yankowskas/Reagan- I think they have only one assignment so I would like them to get a second one at Skate America.
Polina Korobeynikova- Get a second assignment at Cup of Russia
Martiusheva/Rogonov- They have no assignments so hopefully Russia will give them one.
