Who's Going to Worlds?

FINALLY it worked! Loge 9, Row 26. Not exactly the seat I wanted, but after that palaver, it'll do.

Glad u got it to work. There is link somewhere in this discussion about ticker master exchange policies. It's important because they are uploading additional tickets next week and the seat you want might be in there

Glad to hear that there was a problem with the exhibition tickets because I was not happy with the ones we got shortly after they went on sale today and was confused as to how all of the good seats were already gone when they weren't part of the all event passes.

Yikes. Now I'm nervous for if there's no seats left for the men's FP by the time Sunday comes.

Will there still be tickets up?

There are still quite a few balcony tickets. And quite a few on Stubhub, though at super inflated prices!

Yes, still inventory for the men's final, but only in the upper balcony.

Shocked what people are reselling for on Stub Hub :(

Wow, didn't realize there was such an active discussion going on! I had to work all day and couldn't look at tickets myself, but my sweet and kind husband (who is not at all interested in figure skating but puts up with my hobbies and obsessions) was able to score my requested tickets for ladies free and short, men's free, pairs free, and free dance. I don't think I have the greatest seats (most are in Loge 20, and I think a couple in Loge 4) but they are certainly not the worst, and I'm just so thrilled to even be going!

Re: hotels, I ended up booking late and none of the nearby hotels had any availability, but I did find a room at the Hampton Inn Cambridge, which is right across the Metro and a short ride to the TD Garden. I think it looks fairly safe and should be just fine. I am bummed I won't be seeing any skaters around my hotel though!

Good luck to everyone still looking for seats, and very excited it seems like many of us on GS will be there!

Could someone explain the situation about the Exhibition tickets? When I go to the website, all the seats are listed gray (unavailable) except for a few balcony and back rows of loges. Are all of the other seats completely sold out? Or are more tickets going on sale at a later week?

Just wondering, what is the official hotel for the event?

ETA: Never mind! The Mariott Copley Place hotel.

ETA 2: So last time I was in Boston, I stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth, which was a fab hotel, but I wouldn't mind trying a new neighborhood. So recommendations? I saw some places downtown and some in Back Bay.

Apparently Ticketmaster has not completely uploaded all of the ticket inventory for the exhibition. So it may appear that tickets are sold out or limited in availability. It is expected to be finalized next week. Tammi, who apparently invoked with LOC has been kind enough to provide us with information so hopefully when she know the rest of the upload happened she will post hear. Fortunately I got an exhibition ticket I am happy with. Section 22 row 16

There's been a delay with Tickmaster uploading the file of All Event tickets sold through the LOC. Because of this, the exhibition inventory has not been fully loaded. It's my understanding that the upload will take place next week, at which time many more exhibition seats will be available. Unfortunately, I don't have a specific day of when this will happen, but I'll keep close tabs on it and post here as soon as I know.

Thanks for your response! Do you know what location the tickets would be in? Are there still premium seats available ?

Yikes. I hope there are still seats available by tomorrow afternoon. Well the upside to upper balcony seats is that the price is only $39.50...

SHOOT! How am I going to be able to throw my hat onto the ice if I'm that far away from it. :((((((( Darn it......

Decided to send an email to ask if it's okay if I can stand near the lower level during one of the skates so I can throw a gift onto the ice after....cause I do not have a pitcher's throw if you know what I mean.

A lot of Premium, good end loge and balcony circle will be available.

That's good to hear! I'm hoping to snag two premium tickets. So they'll be ready to go around next week? Will we get a 24 hour notice or a specific time of when the next batch of tickets will be released? Thank you again for all your work :)

That will be up to the ushers who are working the event and how strict the arena is. My guess is because it is close to being sold out, you'll need a ticket to access the lower level.

Time for me to develop a pitcher's arm then.....

I think there are multiple hotels on the Worlds 2016 website, but I'm not sure if there is only one "official" hotel, like if that's where the athletes are staying or whatever.

Fenway area is obviously great, but if you are looking at a new neighborhood Back Bay is a good choice. Close to two subway lines (green and orange) and lots of cool restaurants and shopping (Newbury street!). Downtown is a little more business-focused and doesn't have such a great restaurant selection, but is still really close to everything. The seaport area is an up and coming area, it's where the secondary rink and all the hotels for 2014 Nationals were. Cambridge is a bit hit-or-miss. There's nice areas, and obviously checking out the Harvard and MIT campuses is pretty cool, but there are also some areas that are getting pretty run down (Central Square is what I'm thinking of for that, although there are still lots of great restaurants around there). You mostly want to look for proximity to subway lines, especially since you really don't know what the weather might be doing in late March/early April. Boston is very walkable, but when you want to get somewhere it's nice to have the subway (just don't expect it to always be perfectly reliable or for trains to come when they should, as any Boston commuter will tell you :laugh2:)

If anyone has any questions about Boston- food, subway, things to do, etc- please don't hesitate to ask me or shoot me a PM. I live on the outskirts of the city but work right next to the TD Garden so I'm happy to help people figure out things about the city.

The official hotel is the Marriott Boston Copley Hotel.

As stated in the ISU announcement for Worlds 2016:

http://static.isu.org/media/224557/wc2016_announcement_final.pdf (bottom of page 7)

"The official hotel for ISU Office Holders, ISU Event Officials, Judges, Team Officials and Federation Presidents, Skaters, Team Leaders, Coaches, Assistant Team Leaders, Team Medical Staff and if capacity available also Chaperones is: Marriott Boston Copley Hotel."
